2018/19 Jordan Pickford

If you think Jordan Pickford is better than poor at his distribution either you are deluded or you are on the wind up. He's had a couple good kicks/throws down the pitch but almost always has been extremely poor.

I think he is capable of being good but more often than not he does that weird hurried punt thing to nobody.

He did a lovely ball directly out of play when under absolutely no pressure whatsoever, yesterday. I think he's a good keeper, but never be amongst the elite of De Gea, Allison, Ederson, Lloris, etc. Which seems to be about right seeing as he's playing for us.

No not on a 1 on 1
Bit of sweeping statements there? I'm not blaming Pickford for yesterday, as that type of chance is Vardy's bread and butter, but angles are very important.

While a one on one chance is always going to be the benefit of the attacking player, it's by definition the keeper's responsibility to make it as difficult as possible.

The wrong angle is not making it more difficult but in fact easier for the opposition, so ultimately they can be blamed (to an extent) for the wrong angles.

What an absolutely pathetic record that is
I'm not sure if it's more embarrassing for Jordan or for the club as a whole. Either way. it's not good viewing and highlights our recent records and our situation.

His ability is fine but his concentration is lacking. Similar to Mina Zouma and a few others, he has the ability to maintain good form over a longer period (as we saw before the Derby) but currently is unwilling to do so which in some ways is even more annoying than if he was just a poor keeper.

24 year old keepers who are not in the very top bracket(even then it's known) will make mistakes, this is part of a keepers development,it doesn't help when the defence are making lots of silly mistakes.

I don't know if he's come back with a big head or not or whether he's lauding it because he won all the end of season awards last year. This is going to be a big few months for this young keeper because if he doesn't halt the daft goals then he may well see his stock fall. I think he needs to ditch the social media and all the rave crap and find some consistency in an also inconsistent side.

Could be a great keeper or he could fall by the way side like so many who showed early potential. Over to you Jordan lad.

A little comparison with some top keepers in the league (premier League only stats)

De Gea
Played 257
Conceded 256
Clean sheets 95

Courtois
Played 126
Conceded 121
Clean sheets 48

Lloris
Played 223
Conceded 236
Clean sheets 81
Pickford

Played 80 prem league games
Conceded - 136
Clean sheets - 18

Pickford concedes about 1.7 per game and the others around 1?
Pickford concedes about 70% more?
Good god

What's all the stuff about him being a "24 year old keeper" - as if it's an excuse for being 'kin dire week in week out.

It just about sums up how serious this club takes what it does when this clown has no competition for his place.
Since he`s so young it would do no harm to bench him for an extended period. He seems to believe he is crucial for the team. Its starting to appear less and less so.
