We need to stop talking about him like he’s a youngster. He’s 25 in a couple of months, and should be closing in on his prime as a keeper, not going backwards.
What I tried to say is that he's still young enough to handle a period on the bench. His head is way off.

Nothing has changed. He's a decent keeper, at the level of Ben Foster a couple of years ago or Tim Howard for a few years at Everton. All keepers make mistakes. He has flaws in his game but he's ok. That goal yesterday would not have been saved by any goalie, and those who think it would have obviously never played in goal.

If somebody lost their mind and offered £70 million for him, should we take it? I would say yes. But the chances of that are slim, and we have bigger problems than a goalie who never comes off his line, and makes 2 or 3 mistakes a season.

His closing in on Karius-level on mistakes. That's not ok. And our GK should be more than ok. He needs to sit out some games.

And play who instead? We've paid a lot of money for him, he needs to play every game. Steklenburg is too old, and playing a kid in goal is never a good idea, maybe if we're 12th with 3 games to go, but certainly not at the moment.

I think Stekelenburg could handle a couple of games. What's the point of having him if you're not putting him to use when you need it? Pickford's ego is just ridiculous now.

Cheers mate I needed a laugh after my first morning back at work.

I hope you get your wish, it would be hilarious the amount of cryarsing about Silva switching it up to put a hologram in goal.

I'm not wishing for Stek. Not at all. But should we accept that our GK concedes almost 70% more than the ones mentioned esrlier.? Is it ok to laugh away your own stupid mistakes without consequences?

Since he`s so young it would do no harm to bench him for an extended period. He seems to believe he is crucial for the team. Its starting to appear less and less so.
I imagine Digne and Gomes having come from Barcelona thinking "We have to put up with this tool each week regardless of how many times he screws up? Let me out of here!".

He's not exactly instilling confidence in the defence now. He gets away with way way too much.

A foot away from him?! Any GK playing for the Dog & Duck would have stuck a leg out at that...not this divvy though. Diving for it with his hands and losing the time it takes to do that to allow the ball past him.

It's basic stuff.

Do you mean the ones mentioned above that played for the best teams in the league?

I'd love to know when he was laughing after the mistakes against Liverpool and Tottenham. I didn't see it.

You wanted him dropped, him being dropped requires Stekelenburg to come in. Now you don't want Stekelenburg, you need to make your mind up.

If there was a suitable back up I'd have no problem in dropping Pickford and taking him out of the spotlight. As there is none, then he will have to play his way back into form which is a difficult thing to do given the profile of the mistakes.

Begins at the back. The GK has to have the confidence of the defence. If you were a defender in that back line you'd fear what would happen if you'd been outpaced by a forward.
