2018/19 Jordan Pickford

If he has any feel for football team building then Brands would take any offer that came for Pickford. It's like trying to build a house on shifting ground.
Well put, Dave, thats exactly it. Building a team on a shaky foundation doesnt solve anything. Sometimes it better to scrap the current plans and begin again. Distribution aside, Jordan did fine in the derby, but that doesnt change much. He’s done fine before. Its the eventual calamity he’s certain to visit upon us im fearing.

I like Brands, but he and Marco gave Jordan a new contract 6 months ago, even tho he had still had 4+ years on his then current contract. Either they are susceptible to hype, or theyre bad at evaluating players. Hope its a one-off.

He got a wage bump because he was one of the best goalkeepers at the World Cup, mate.

Not like they handed an extension to Phil Neville

Why should we need to be asking that of an England international GK we paid £30M for?

It's just not on.

Cut our losses and sell him.
Davek my man. He is decent and getting better. First half it was plain to see it was about no nonsence clearances and going for the wings to avoid VVD. It was windy as hell and the long ball was difficult. How many did we concede?
Silva got it right as did the team. We were best side second half. VVD played really well and was often in the right place when we got in the box. Honours even against a very good side. Can't complain.

Just seems like on crosses and corners hes hesitant to come out
Wouldn't disagree with you on that, but that doesn't mean his positioning as such is wrong. That's more a tactical thing and may well come from Silva's instructions.
He isn't 6'6. The way some teams throw all their big men into the 6 yard box means even a 6'6 keeper gets blocked. So i can see why in a crowded box he stays on his line. Players are getting smart now at blocking goalies without conceding a foul. Not too often now I see any goalie coming through a crowded box to catch at the edge of the penalty box for example. That seemed to happen all the time in 70s, 80s 90s I was watching but less so now

Yes, but all that doesn't detract from the fact we have a very dodgy and inconsistent keeper.
