Heaton certainly, tbh not seen much of Pope but know he was statistically superior last year

heaton and pope both decent like ( think pope is better than heaton myself as well ) but pickford is better than both

think the derby has just set a lot of fans against him for how bad the mistake was, he needs to improve some parts of his game ( commanding his box, and coming from crosses most definitely ) but at his age he's got loads of time

it took de gea a few years to adjust to the prem and he's the best in the world now

Can’t find it now, but someone on here said kicking wide was a tactic because Liverpool have been picking teams off from goal kicks. It’s something I hadn’t considered and it was frustrating me in the derby, but it makes sense, and conceding a few throws was considered a price worth paying. I like it when I read something sensible and educational on here, so whoever it was : thanks.

No, I don’t buy that.

He finds touch on a regular basis every game we play.

Sounds like your elusive poster is making excuses for Pickford’s generally average distribution:(

This is true and it also slows the game down.
Everton spent basically 17 days away watching Liverpool vids and making a plan, and it almost worked, defensively it did, just not going forward although with a bit more luck...etc

Obviously he didn't want to punt it down the centre when VVD would dominate, but why not narrow the angle by a few yards rather than straight to the byline?
It's the exact same tactic Koeman was using. Pickford to dcl. It didn't work well then

Not sure what people wanted him to do with his kicking. Pass it out to our defenders (only one of whom is even comfortable on the ball) so that Liverpool can counter us to pieces? Ping it into our midfield, again the exact type of ball Liverpool thrive off. Or go long and wide thus practically eliminating any chance for Liverpool to counter and giving us a chance of throw ins and corners round their area? Ah yeah but some biff on Sky or twitter probably brought up a pass completion map you didn’t like. Grow up. He shut the door on salah in a one on one and kept a clean sheet, you can’t ask for anything else in a derby. Especially when you consider Tim Howard fouling Kuyt going away from the goal or allowing in any basically any free kick that was on target, or of course Joel who actually let in any shot that was on target including one from Mane he could have just walked across and picked up.

Heaton is 32. Pickford is 24.

That's 7 years more experience and he's at his peak.

Pickford is nowhere near that or reached his potential.

Heaton has had one decent season then got injured and is only now returning to form. Plus he’ll probably be finished as a top level keeper at some point in the next 2 or 3 years. I’d take Pickford every single day of the week.

Sure you can use pinging balls to Walcott/Bernard as a tactic against a pressing Liverpool side but his kicking has been pretty abysmal all season.
