It's an old argument but the Spurs one is all on Pickford for me. Zouma's got the situation under control, there's no need for him to be out there at all, absolutely none. Call me old fashioned but communication is one of the things I look for in a keeper, and if we concede a goal due to lack of communication between the keeper and centre half, when the keeper has come out of his box for no reason at all, then yes I would call that horrendous.
The rest of your post just agrees with my original point. You said he wasn't a problem, I'm saying he is, just not necessarily the biggest one. If you now agree then that's fine.
This was the same when i grew up playing but what i would say is that the game has moved on a bit since then and this sort of thing is a bit Allardyce like for me. Players these days are for more technically skilled and most can get out of situations without the need for hoofball tactics. Using the above mentioned incident, if Pickford had stayed in his box Zouma could have got to the ball and just knocked it back to him but instead he came charging out and all hell broke loose.must have different views on how you defend then mate, when I grew up it was always clear your lines no messing around, which is what zouma should have done
and maybe I should have worded it differently, I don't think pickford is a direct problem, I meant the team in general was a problem given how they have performed in the past 2 years, so how do you fix a problem with an underperforming team? you address the weak spots ( ie digne for baines, zouma/mina for jags/Williams etc etc ) nowhere within that would I think myself oh pickford needs replacing
for what we want to be pickford will be sound for us

As I've mentioned before in this thread, Pickford could see the whole picture in front of him whereas Zouma couldn't. 100% Pickford's fault.
Don't be ridiculoussound lad, I blame pickford for every misplaced pass we ever do because "he can see the full picture"
Yeah so he should take command of the situation. Which in this case means Zouma needs to get out of the way. Which he didn't.As I've mentioned before in this thread, Pickford could see the whole picture in front of him whereas Zouma couldn't. 100% Pickford's fault.
Cause Gonna didn't see Pickford comingYeah so he should take command of the situation. Which in this case means Zouma needs to get out of the way. Which he didn't.
That's purely using your he can see the whole picture argument, there are reasons for it being Pickfords fault as well as Zoumas but it is not 100% either way imo.
Sorry that should have said ZoumaCause Gonna didn't see Pickford coming
Cause Gonna didn't see Pickford coming
Blimey you've got good eyesight. Sorry I missed that one. Ok it was Zoumas fault.Despite actually looking at him?
He doesn't need to see him. When a keeper comes for a cross the defender doesn't see him, he hears him. If Pickfords coming storming of his line hes not gonna do it silently. He'll be saying it's his ball in which case Zouma needs to trust him and move. The debate as to whether he should be coming for it or not is certainly there though.Cause Gonna didn't see Pickford coming
I would imagine he thought he could see him but then his brain kicked in and he thought 'No, why the hell would my keeper be racing 20 yards out of his box when the best he can do is put out for a throw in, which I could do myself if I wanted, but I don't because it would be easier to just nod it back to him?' and so put it down to a hallucination.Despite actually looking at him?
