We probably have more pressing concerns than the keeper, but yes, the second (most important) goal should have been saved. Keepers should use their feet when the ball is hit low and close to their bodies (david de gea been doing it for years).

How many times has pickford been beaten by headers flying across his goal this season? I've lost count. Crap defenders in front of him, but he has been average at best.
Average? The guy is a clown. End of debate!

Zonal marking is the reason why. We can’t defend set pieces been the problem all season. Not the keepers fault there’s free headers in the box you donkey.

2nd goal is hit hard from 12yds through Holgates legs, dont hold him to blame for that.
Though the fact he doesnt come for a single corner leaves us struggling every game and opposition knows it.
Stick it on 6 yd line and its a 50/50

I think a few keepers are saving that.
I find he gets a lot of "nothing he could do with that" comments basically excusing him from every goal he lets in.
Begovic made saves against newcastle. I wonder if pickford had been in goal and they had gone in would he have got the "nothing he could do about that"

But i go back to my main concern. As poor as the defence is. I dont think he gives an aura of confidence out. Thats a real issue long term.

Maybe it isn't the worst part of the team but I think it is pretty easy to improve which means we should probably try to.

100%
Ian Wright said before the game that Palace need to put crosses in to put the keeper under pressure

It’s a flaw that is well known

Pickford is a really good goalkeeper, there's no denying it, but when we are getting goals put past us left, right and centre, and in the middle of it the backup keeper comes in and keeps a clean sheet you have to ask whether that's a coincidence.

It might not be a question of technique or individual ability, but maybe with defenders who are nervy and low on confidence the calmness and presence of Begovic behind them is better for the run in than Pickford berating them at every turn.

There's plenty of room to deny it.

I really don't think he's a bad keeper. And he's great for England with better defenders in front of him. But I do wonder if he doesn't help our poorer defenders, both in terms of his command of balls into the box etc, and in terms of his communication with them. Begovic instantly seemed to inspire more confidence.

Good job we had England's number 1 back in.

FFS, I'd punt this clown to Marine the moment the season ends.
