I think you are right in saying all roundBegovic is the better all round keeper. He communicates better with the backline and comes out off his line more. I certainly feel better with him in goal. It’s not much but it counts.
The problem is at this point who is actually paying the money? Spurs maybe, but Lloris is still far better even as he gets up in age. Arsenal don't really need to buy another keeper and especially another middling one with the England tax included. Everyone else on track for Europe this season is covered. Does anyone not in Europe really need to send a bunch of money at us and would he even want to go?I've always maintained that with Pickford it's worth persisting with him mainly because a) he's young and will only get better and b) the grass won't necessarily be greener with another keeper. I'm changing my mind now, though. I just don't really see a ton of improvement (he doesn't learn with errant distribution and hasn't gotten any better on corners/crosses). With our financial situation, we are going to have to sell a couple of top players in order to have the proper reset that we need. Pickford can bring back some money that can be reinvested, and we'll be able to get more value for a keeper from Europe.
Starting to agree. Pickford has ability but quite volatile. Not sure he gives confidence to the defence with some of his antics.Begovic is the better all round keeper. He communicates better with the backline and comes out off his line more. I certainly feel better with him in goal. It’s not much but it counts.
Yeah very good point. Would probably be dependent on a team losing a keeper. Villa if Martinez gets signed by a CL club abroad? Then again you're potentially looking at the same issue there. The problem is at this point who is actually paying the money? Spurs maybe, but Lloris is still far better even as he gets up in age. Begovic is vastly superior to Pickford overall. We didn't look as chaotic or exposed defensively with begovic versus the Geordies, than for most of the games where we look like the keystone cops with Pickford in goal.
Every set piece its a lottery if we deal with it correctly - I think begovic might have come for the palace goal as well, Pickford just sits on the line waiting for this to happen.
Pickford is a stopper of good shots and an average keeper, nothing more, and I would feel more relaxed if we played begovic, but I can't see Fronk dropping England's number 1 for the run in.
No he's like several notches below that. Are people just now realizing Pickford really isn't that great? He's like a tick below a world class shot stopper but he's not a great keeper at all. He doesn't command his area, he yells at everyone no matter what happens, he never takes responsibility for any of the goals he's single handily caused, he doesn't do well at all with shots from distance. I think Robles was a better all around keeper, I think Olsen was a better all around keeper.
As much as I rate Digne selling two of the players from our mess to Villa and Villa thinking it is a good idea would be comical.Yeah very good point. Yeah Villa are very overrated at this point but are chomping at the bit to progress and not spending wisely (hence making signings like Digne and Ings). Kind of like us a couple of seasons ago honestly. We'll see if it goes better for them.As much as I rate Digne selling two of the players from our mess to Villa and Villa thinking it is a good idea would be comical.
