He's by far the last of our problems. I've critisised him in the past, but, this season? I think not. He's been one of our better performers in horror story of a season. He would be first choice at most teams outside the top 6, how many of the rest of them would even get into another team on a regular basis. Take a look at full backs, central defenders and central midfielders. Those problems need to be sorted long before goal keeper.

He's no Neville Southall or Nigel Martin, but still, he's of far better quality than most of his team mates.

Over the last few years/couple of tournaments England have played awful teams until the later stages of tournaments.

He's a decent Premier League goalkeeper though and makes a lot of good saves. He doesn't save some that he should and his all round game and commanding of area is limited.

Our biggest issue with him imo... makes the already nervous defenders more nervous which makes pickford more nervous and round and round we go

I agree, he’s the third best keeper in my lifetime and we’ve finished in European places with far worse so he’s not the problem right now!

Lol the Pickford haters will always find a way of making it pickfords fault. So let me get this right, the defenders are poor because of JP?? ?
 

I wish some of our outfield players had his energy,I know he has a mistake in him but he’s the least of our problems,and he has improved recently unlike the rest of them

What is this haters thing. If you dont rate someone can you not just state that without this hate nonsense.

They are all collectively responsible. The Everton rear guard has been my biggest gripe for the past few years. We havent one defender i rate.
I reckon most Evertonians if being honest wouldnt claim they have great confidence in pickford. And im not convinced he trusts the defenders at this club and vica versa.

Just another thing on the list Everton need to address. I'd happily replace them all.

I think he is just a decent keeper, great close range shot stopper as very good reactions

But if people can’t see his commanding of his area, positioning and general basics are his main failings. I believe they are just blindly defending him…

Before being shot down….. he is a decent keeper

‘haters’ being used as a figure of speech.

Hes rightfully been criticised in the past but he’s still getting criticised and completely not rightly so.
I think a lot of the supporters who still have it in their heads he’s useless are because they don’t watch many games and have made their minds up on him based on two seasons ago!

It’s a myth that he’s part of the problem this season, course there will be goals he should save occasionally but there will also be saves he had no right saving! It’s no different to top strikers in reverse of that.
I think to say they have all been bad is a sweeping statement.
Granted most have been bad but not all.

He has let in loads of goals this season because our defence has let so many clear goal scoring opportunities through. Look at the City game, he was outstanding and then with ten minutes to go Keane slices the ball, nobody tracks Foden and boom 1-0. Look at the very first game of the season, Keane let’s Southampton’s striker through one on one and he emphatically finished, no way any keeper was getting that.

I was massively critical of Pickford a year or so ago because he was causing problems with his positioning, shot stopping and mentality the only thing he was good at was reaction saves because of his reflexes. The last year or so he’s only been directly at fault for a tiny amount of our conceded goals, such as Spurs’ second goal.

We’ve conceded 47 premier league goals this season - go find me how many you can justifiably blame on Pickford.

A thing that can happen is the keeper isn't directly responsible for any goals and is still not very good. This is where Pickford is very close to being.

You know I like stats. I'd like to see him have decent numbers in some of the shot stopping stats. He doesn't. But I also would like to watch matches and see him save us from time to time. He's done it very sparingly this year. People come on here and are always "well it isn't his fault" and they aren't wrong, but at some point good keepers make saves on shots that wouldn't be their fault and it wins you points. Even in the moments he does pull those out it is often undone quickly. He lets shots in from range at an alarming rate and struggles to cover the entire goal. Shots in the corner can be stopped. You're not going to save all of them but you also shouldn't get practically none which is to me where it feels he's at. Again the numbers back this up to an extent, I haven't meticulous broke it down but the shot stopping isn't good.

And then there is also all the other things aside from shot stopping that can add or subtract. He's shaky commanding the box, he hits the upper Bullens with a clearance every week and his demeanor is that of a complete lunatic. So that subtracts.
