Had a look on there. They seem sad to see him go, but weary of what Short might do we the money, however pleased he's coming to us.

This is a good thing! No doubt! Poor Joel, Stek and Taudul though, but that's the keepers' curse. Surely Pickford will not be holding down that place from day 1 like Tim Howard did, the competition from the other arguably quite decent keepers we have should be enough to spur him on to perform and all!

My only slight negative is that he is young and therefore inexperienced for a goalkeeper, but no doubting his talent. What's most pleasing about this is we had a need for a player and went out and bought top of the range, no messing about. Of course, still time to 'do an Everton' and let him go to Arsenal instead.

By all means get some bargains like Gueye at al, but at the end of the day if we can afford to just go, "yeah how much do you want? Sure whatever that's fine" then isn't that a positive?
