2017/18 Jordan Pickford

Been the best of all the Koeman summer signings so far but he's hardly setting the world on fire, he's saving shots I'd expect him to save and not much more than that up to now, don't think he can be blamed in any way whatsoever for our predicament though.

I seem to remember thinking he could have done better for the 1st goal against Spurs

Other than that he's not done anything wrong. Made a great stop against Bournemouth at 1-0 down which was as good as a goal

His distribution is occasionally a bit off, but that's really only because I'm judging him to a very high standard in that respect, some of it has been better than I've seen from any Everton goalkeeper ever.

He's the only summer signing we made who can claim to be playing at anything like his potential (We'll, Vlasic is doing alright tbf)

Not a multi. And I'm not specifically having a go at Pickford here either. But I will reiterate a point I have made several times already.

In each of the last 3 seasons, Joel has came in to a team struggling defensively and we have improved each and every time.

Once, you could say it was a fluke...

Twice, a lucky coincidence...

3 times, with different defences, different players, different managers, different styles, different Goalkeepers replaced?

He may appear to bit a dim at times, and he may have the odd mistake in him, as do all goalkeepers, (including Nev the God himself btw), but he is nowhere near as bad as people would have you believe, and other than simply making saves, he obviously brings more to the team than he is given credit for.

He has overseen improved defensive performances each time he has been given a shot. He has made some really good saves at key moments and won us points. He is big, intimidating, very vocal and even when he does make mistakes, the number of which are extremely exaggerated I might add, he has rarely cost us games.

I have no doubts that Pickford is the long term option, he is young, has a good reputation, and has made some spectacular saves, but aside from that, I don't see what else he is doing and like it or not, he is part of that defensive unit.

He also cost us a lot of money, so I know there is no chance of this change happening. Koeman is too stubborn and if he does drop him, it will be for Stekelenburg, just to make his point.

But it would be interesting to see if the fluke/coincidence could stretch to 4 years on the bounce...

i was only joking about the multi ffs !
Anyone who thinks Joel is a better option than Pickford needs their bumps feeling though.

Kinell, a campaign of hate towards Joel aswell

Still won us more points on his own than any other player this season. A top keeper, without him we'd be snuggling up next to Crystal Palace at the bottom of the league.
Agree on this, that second goes in from Defoe and we get nothing in that game, you could credit Niasse with the points because he got 2 goals but without Pickford the game would of been over earlier. Same can be said about the other 4 points, he had a big hand in those but no other play you can say played a part in all 7 points this season.

Going on that reasoning he cost us 3 points against spurs then mate,it's a team game not a individual sport.
