Shame, would have been a great player for us.He was given more than enough chances too. Even went to Oldham under Sharpy but couldn't buckle down.

He's not though is he? He's a koppite who has spent the past few years digging us out on social media whenever he gets the chance. You're really not right, you. (That's something coming from me)... This is the club looking after one of their own. ONE OF US. Yeah he's a screw up. That's the point. He's been brought back home to be given one year to sort himself out, regain fitness get a few u23 games and find himself a contract elsewhere. This isn't a pr stunt. This is the club giving an ex player a leg up in their time of need. This is a class act club showing their support for one of their own and not turning their back on him like you and a few others would have done. I honestly have to question, when reading your comments, how much of a Blue you actually are. Sure, I'm off my head, which is why I try to only post in moments of mental clarity, but you? You constantly bring us down and attempt to undermine everything good the club is trying to do. I thank all that's Holy that your voice is minuscule and not to be heard elsewhere.
Just throwing it out there - wouldn't the Former Players' Foundation have been better helping?

I actually can't work out why it's such a big issue, not good enough for the present squad, training to get fit, seems like a nice gesture to me which harms nobody.
It is an unusual move and that is for certain.
However, I think that we may need to look at this from a wider perspective.
Why do this at all in the first place ? Realistically it is not to try to resurrect the career of a potential first team player. I imagine the best that can be hoped for is that Baxter will have learned his lesson and can get his life an his career back on track.
But, why did Everton do it ? We cannot help every lost soul and the club is operating in a hugely copmpetitive industry.
Yes , I can imagine Bill Kenwright making the gesture for publicity and also for sympathetic reasons. I think it could be seen as classic Bill Kenwright, just as I have no doubt that the generous donation to that little boy at Sunderland(Bradley) was also a Bill Kenwright idea.
But, why would Dave Unsworth agree ? he is going to have to deal with him every day and basically manage his rehab.
It certainly could be used as a salutary lesson to youngsters at the club to show how easily their greatest wish(a career in football) could be taken from them.
But, I expect this is done in conjunction with the advise and assistance of the medical and legal professions. I don't think this is done on a whim . I think it just may be a ground breaking exercise where football attempts to give something back.
Baxter may the first and given his footballing past will be of interest to the football WORLD.
Everton are trailblazers in community related matters and this just may be the start of something new. I find it hard to believe it is just a once off and simply a whim off Bill Kenwright.
Not really as he is a 24 year old lad who could have a decent future in football and we could help him with that.Just throwing it out there - wouldn't the Former Players' Foundation have been better helping?
