Kenwright leaving rumour

Right, and anyone else who will come in is here for the love of the club?

He is a proper blue regardless of what people think of him.

Time will tell on your last point but I have his reign down as moderately decent. he has not been perfect, far from it, but he has hardly been awful to the point that some claim either.
The man has lied through his back teeth to EFC fans to protect his train set....end of

Literally stood up whooping and hollering at this post. Pure truth right there ladies and gentlemen. 20m wasn't it that he needed to find to get the stadium? That's two-thirds of a Yannick Bolasie.
We needed £30, Kenwright couldn't find it, despite Gregg saying he'd put up the money if he stepped aside.

Nah, that wasn't Bill's idea. He said he could fund it himself and has the money for it. Obviously it collapsed, despite having a young Wayne Rooney as an asset at the club.

If he was a yank, Arab or Chinese, he would have been ran out of town years ago. He's Blue Bill, though. He got pissed on in the Boy's Pen and used to chant on his heroes.

missing out on KD has held us back years, which I'm afraid is all down to old Bill. £30m would have done it but he wasn't prepared to cede any power to Gregg. he has to be held responsible for this.

All it would have done is give us a nice new ground. Anything else is open to all kinds of chance.

Yes we should all be like Portsmouth and Wigan.

Think about it! I get it, they have won a trophy, but other than Leicester and maybe Swansea the rest of them have fallen on hard times. The lack of trophies is down to a manager not a chairman, and OK the chairman picks the manager but Moyes was in charge for most of that time and nobody would have suggested sacking him. Funnily enough other chairman would have done that at certain points.

And who the hell is Paul Gregg? I mean I KNOW who Paul Gregg is but where would we have been with him in charge?

So we want to be the same as clubs who are in leagues one and two with an owner who has no background in football?

I wouldn't mind if we had been rubbish during his reign but we have generally been a top half side. Not wonderful but hardly bad either. If average means you are a cancer, disgrace and stain on the club then we must be riddled with it.

Please don't compare any of them clubs to the status of Everton. Had we of got that stadium, EVERYTHING would have been different. Do you think City would have been bought over us?

I'm getting angrier the more you post mate. You're telling the truth and it is outragerous that 'Blue' Bill has been allowed to stink the gaff out for two decades while he performed a fake search for investment. And then when he does find an investor, it turns out to be some plonker who has absolutely no idea what he's doing and employers even more plonkers around him who spunk all of his millions up the wall on crap players.

Kenwright will be remembered by me and many others as the man who stopped the Kings Dock happening. That then shackled us to Philip Green who was the de facto decision maker at the club on financial affairs, a man who had no interest in anything other than fiercely protecting the loans he'd made to the club. That state of affairs lasted for well over a decade, and we've never recovered from that body blow. It was the selfish act of a man who I dont doubt is a massive Evertonian.
Nail on head....close thread;)

It wasn't me who compared them!!

But do you know what, in the big picture we are comparable. We are just another club to everybody except our own fans.

It may have been different, then again it may not have. We can't possibly know that. Loads of clubs have got new grounds, it has not magically transformed them into world beaters. And no I don't think they would have bought us instead of City. Lets not forget City were originally bought by Thaksin Shiniwatra too. That could have been us.

I love the big thinking and the image we have as fans that we are massive etc but some of us need a massive dose of reality.

yes, the chance of proper investment, the chance of being taken over by a oil billionaire, the chance of better players, and the chance of having trophies in the cabinet.

And also the chance of it not being "Everton" either. I don't want to be Chelsea or Manchester City, I want to be Everton.

Fact is none of it happened did it? Yet we still have generally done OK. As I have said he is not perfect and far from it. But the vitriol he gets from some is well out of order. As I keep saying it could have been a whole lot worse.

No mate that is the last 5 months!

the team is worse off now than it was 2 years ago, as much as you can pick out one or two players, results and performances matter and we have neither really.

I agree.... so I am not sure why we are arguing this?

The team has gone downhill, maybe back the levels it was pre-Kenwright after he has let a new person take control. We seem to be both be in agreement of this....

Bill stepped in at a bad time and did all he could to keep the club going and for that he should be given credit, Christ knows where we’d be now if he hadn’t.

I met him once when at an audition in my younger days - fresh out of college before I gave up on my hopes and dreams. He was actually very friendly. I made sure to slip into conversation I was an Everton fan in the hope it would get me some work and we spoke for about 10 minutes about football and the club. He didn't hire me (K'off Osman) but I remember coming away thinking wow he really knows his stuff – he’s a proper fan.
That very brief encounter the best part of 16 years ago always sticks with me whenever I rant about him because it's sort of humanised him. I wasn’t speaking to a super rich Chairman or even a possible employer I was just having a chat with another Everton fan and that – especially living down south where they are few and far between is always a pleasure.

I’m not pro Kenwright. It’s time to move on and if he’s leaving to enjoy life (his many millions), just be a fan again and he’s in good health then all the best too him but it’s time to part ways.

At this point his legacy is one of failed ground moves and empty promises and I don’t think the club can ever really move forward (which we all want as fans) whilst he has such an influence.

Kenwright just can't win really can he
  • We need to spend doe'' Moshiri comes in weve spent more than ever
  • No wonder were [Poor language removed] signing Allardyce [tbf there wasn't many better options]
  • The players we've wasted dosh on [yet again that's a managers decision]
cba putting more just woke up but of the top of my head.. just be thankfull he's not like
Mike Ashley/many others and regardless whether you think he's done us good.
We've stayed in the top flight since he's been here no matter how low we've fell.

I think people need to stop thinking we're this big club we was years ago, times have evolved
I mean I'm 24 all as I've seen us win is basically nothing. I wasn't even old enough to remember.

I think the ' have we done this to ourselves thread' was spot on to be honest.
