Kevin Mirallas

Osman has, on many occasions in his career, come on late on and come up with a goal or a little pocket of space to provide an assist.

Again, the logic was there. We needed a player who can pick up those little pockets of space and make a pass. Mirallas isn't that kind of player - he's much more effective when he's got room to operate which we didn't have on Saturday.

May be up to three or four years ago, but for the last two years at least he has been woeful! There are not many squads in the Premier League he would get anywhere near these days, apart from Everton's for some reason!! Any way this thread is about supposed to be about Mirallas, who now must look at Kone and Osman getting on the pitch in front of him and know his time is up and I don't think many on here would blame him!!

Nope. Swansea, first 15 minutes. We were dreadful. No excitement, no creativity. Nothing at all.

They're fine together when we're chasing a game - which is why it would have been good to see both of them come on yesterday, which is what I have also said.

It doesn't work from the start, though, IMO.

Wow, a full 15 minutes in a game that the whole team started sluggishly? You are really using that to prove the point? Amazing.

He must have been proper doing Martinez's missus or something to not be getting a game - I posted something similar on here recently about his game time and how many games he has been involved in and people where convinced when fit he would be starting. Hopefully people now see that something isn't right here.

I don't understand the reasoning behind the new contract though - If Martinez doesn't like him and doesn't see him as part of his plans then fine - get rid don't offer a new contract

15 minutes doesn't show anything either way. I'd actually give Mirallas and Lennon a run of starts together.

I've said numerous times Mirallas and Lennon is, IMO, a fantastic wing partnership. They looked great against Chelsea and decent at newcastle, and when they both came on vs. Leicester.

I was talking about Kev and Del...

I agree with the first part. With regard to the second bit, in a 45 game season, in which results have generally been rubbish, Del and Kev deserve more than 15 minutes together at the start of one solitary game. Or we can just keep on doing the same things that haven't worked for 18 months.

I agree it would be good to see Kev and Del together - and we should have done on Saturday really when we were chasing the game.

But, ultimately, I could understand RM's reluctance to start them both together - and I don't think there was anything wrong with his initial selection on Saturday.

Then why did he not just ask for a transfer request and refuse a new deal? As I said no one knows exactly what's going on leading to wild speculation and frustration.

I'd Rather see players of Everton Football Club trying to get into the squad through hard work and desire to play than to just give up altogether and leave on a tantrum

We all do mate, but he must not be putting the effort in otherwise he would be playing. Again I reiterate we don't know what goes on at Finch Farm during the week, we only see what happens for 90 minutes every weekend

I think we all agreed that after the Stoke game that keeping the same side was a good idea.In hindsight the team that plays well on the break is not really suited to breaking down a well drilled side that defends in numbers, so Mirallas and Del as starters might well have given us the early goal we needed to bring them out of their shell, but then it's always easy to comment after the event. And if they had started and we'd still lost......who'd be a manager?
