Kevin Mirallas

“Our attacking performers have been working really really well and Kevin has been working well. I have no problems with that, and I know he’ll be ready when the opportunity arises.” - Martinez.

Sorry don't believe his opportunity will be coming any time soon.

Another possibility is that the manager favours certain players for his own personal non-football reasons mate

Are you suggesting that hes friendly with Arouna Kones agent and is getting kick backs from his appearance fees? Hence knowing that playing him would trigger another 12 month contract possibly leading to kick backs from the Agent yet again? Allegedly.

Thats a crazy suggestion IMO, but its not without merit.

Are you meaning that in a "he picks Howard despite his poor form because he supported him in the dressing room last season when mutiny was in the air" or in a more shady allardyce/Pulis kind of way?

Aye most managers tend to have players within the squad they favour more than just for their ability - but with most at least you can kind of see why, with Martinez i honestly think it stems from stubbornness or some form f his ego taking over - 'he knows best', he bought Kone for example and he will make him work to prove people wrong, Players who have previously 'had his back' also seem to get a lot more leeway - Howard a case in point.

He goes on a lot about the right type of character - I'm beginning to think a large part of that is the character to just nod along and toe his line

Baines right now has been frozen out the team, as has Mirallas, both players who have questioned in one form or another the line Martinez has come out with, I know people have said on here they agree that Oviedo should be starting, but really one of the best left backs in the league and a huge creative outlet for us who was starting to find his match fitness after a long injury break has just been dumped tot he bench for a player who similarly was coming back from injury - no way on earth Oviedo improves us over Baines and low and behold within 3-4 games back we are giving him a new contract, almost seems like the intention was to play him enough to justify giving him a new deal

Is anything shady happening - don't know but no one does till things eventually come out, but that Kone contract stinks, as did the Alcaraz signing.

Yeah the Kone contract stinks, but Oviedo looks a no brainer, he's worth the risk.

All good conspiracies start with very selective facts.
He has shown loyalty to Baines in the past but now he's keeping Ovideo in on merit.
One minute people want the manager to be firmer, the next they want a player starting because he's moaned.
How does selecting Howard over a keeper he brought to the club fit into the agenda?
All of this amounts to him picking players that not everyone agrees with.
Personally on what I've seen I'd have Lennon, Clev, Del and Kone ahead of Kev because they've all shown enough willing to work for highly talented players around them. So if it's a conspiracy it's one that a few of us are in on.

I think like most managers he just prefers his own players, hence the marginalisation of Mirallas Naismith Gibson etc. and the sales of Jelavic and Anichebe (for Kone).

I would have liked to have seen Mirallas given the chance to carry the ball in and around the box on Saturday. Their four lumps were kicking anything that moved, and he's very, very adept at turning on a sixpence.

But then I assume that, like corners, free kicks and penalties are the refuge of parasite teams. Better to send on possibly the only two players in the division slower than Martin Olsson.

There's always a bit of suspicion when a manager signs the same player for several different clubs IMO, 9/10 times it's just a manager wanting to bring a player in he knows works in his system the other 1/10 times though...

The Kone contract stinks to high heaven though, the most ridiculous trigger for an extension i have ever heard of frankly

Honestly though mate i just think he chooses some players because they 'get him' or just accept whatever bs he spews without questioning him about it, regardless of if they are good enough or if there is better players in the same roles.

right now, Cleverley, Kone, Howard, Oviedo, Barry and McCarthy are in the 'yes sir' camp with Bobby

Baines, Stones, Mirallas all look kind of on the outside

Interesting that he carried on picking Stones after a transfer request and again after loads started blaming him for mistakes.
Also picked Baines several times when he didn't look at his best.
I get that some people love Kev but is it really hard to see why some others think we currently have better options on form and/or team shape

If you find some then let me know what their theory is

Just had a read of some of the utter drivel that's been posted in here recently.
Everton fans in not liking talented players shocker.

I want Mirallas to start every game and Kone to retire mate.

In every game from the beginning of time
A team that starts Clenevilley over Mirallas is doomed to fail
Sack Martinez before it is too late
