When he came on against West Ham in the cup last year he was unplayable, if he produced that kind of performance every other game we'd have some player. As it is he very rarely plays as well as he can do.

You missed the point. It's more about experimentation than anything. Barkley is definately capable of playing the holding role, and I think it would be good to work on his overall game. Anything we can do to add goalscorers to the lineup the better.

I think he'll be awfully upset if he starts tomorrow. The Derby U18s aren't really good enough opposition to showcase his talents.

With Kone and Deulofeu's form this season, it'd be harsh for either of them to be dropped.

Form doesn't last forever, though. So Kev will get his chance and I fancy him to take it. In the meantime he's a great option off the bench.

Speaking of form there's no player affected by it more in our squad than Mirallas. When he's on form he's a brilliant match winner. When he's off form he utterly stinks. He's been the latter this season. We've got options on the wings now so at least it doesn't hurt us too much, can't wait for him to turn ace again.

he played 100 minutes midweek after coming back from " a few niggles "or whatever martinez said. I do think they're monitoring his hamstrings but saying he can't last 15 minutes is a bit over the top
