The fact he signed a new contract is very telling. He's in damage limitation mode.
Everton are the pin up for how to piss away money and spend badly.
He was the clubs director of football 2018, appointed to the board in 2019, and renewed his deal in 2021 - only to be sacked.
His record/transfers and the state in which he left the club - on the brink of relegation is there for everyone to see.
"But, it was the owner. He did my job for me"
If your boss was throwing money at a wall, you telling me you wouldnt go pick some up fambo? The fact he signed a new contract is very telling.
The point stands. He has had to return to his old club in a backwater league. People often return to their old job on a higher salary. It's the only way to make the return palatable. It’s a good job wiki is always correct then

Of course he is, and as your rightly mention he, in his role, has to shoulder some of the responsibility for where we now are as a club. He's in damage limitation mode.

“Everton for example, let’s make no bones about this – The reason Everton is in such a mess is because of their owner. What was that agents name who spilled everything about Moshiri??
Edit: Rob Seagal
It's quite obviously Moshiri's fault. And Kenwright's.Of course he is, and as your rightly mention he, in his role, has to shoulder some of the responsibility for where we now are as a club.
But, we can't also ignore that it appears as if his role was made at a minimum difficult to potentially impossible due to the nature of the club's leadership.
We know Moshiri has interfered in transfers; we know that the club's supposed model (e.g. the type of player we wanted) was ripped up a few times.
It's really easy to put all the blame on Brands as the fall guy, while ignoring the conditions that may have contributed as well.
That’s the one.“Everton for example, let’s make no bones about this – The reason Everton is in such a mess is because of their owner.
“Everton had people, well-respected footballing people, like Marcel Brands, who took the blame for poor signings, but they were the owner’s signings who listened to a Brazilian agent and the club started buying players he recommended and everyone in football knew it.
He added: “When are these clubs going to learn? In fact, the only people who truly care about the clubs are the fans.”
He’s CEO, of course it’s massive step up lol lol lol lolThe point stands. He has had to return to his old club in a backwater league. People often return to their old job on a higher salary. It's the only way to make the return palatable.
If leaving PSV to go to Everton was a step up - and it was - having to return is obviously a step back. A fancy new job title does not obscure the simple reality: he's back where he started having bombed in the big league.
Why people want to defend this charlatan is beyond me.
Perhaps not, but he can’t absolve himself of responsibility. If your boss was throwing money at a wall, you telling me you wouldnt go pick some up fambo?
He's back at PSV. A man of genuine quality does not return to that level if he had better options. He's not in ANY of the top five leagues in European football. This is the level of mediocrity that clown Moshiri employed to direct the football operation at Everton. It's no wonder we are an utter shambles. He’s CEO, of course it’s massive step up lol lol lol lol
And All I’ve literally said is that the water is muddy at Everton because nobody knows who was responsible for what.
If you think that’s hasn’t happened then fine, I think the owner has meddled massively and put us in this position. Which has been confirmed by numerous sources, including Brands. But because it’s him, he’s saving face
Ok
If your boss was throwing money at a wall, you telling me you wouldnt go pick some up fambo?
Nail on the head. I think too many people fall into the binary camp - it's one or the other. Brands wasn't perfect, but it appears his position wasn't help. It's quite obviously Moshiri's fault. And Kenwrights.
But Brands is also culpable.
Him painting himself as some innocent victim in all this while he trousered huge money and signed a contract extension in the full knowledge of the dysfunction around him is brazenly self-serving.
You can identify him as an utter charlatan while knowing the true malignant cancer was above.
