The Rolls Royce comment isn't new - it was public at the time. A search on Google will find loads of articles.
I'm not saying Farhad Moshiri is infallible here, I'm saying Marcel Brands isn't.
Moshiri admitted his mistakes in his last update to fans, Brands is just looking to deflect.
I said it loads on here over the years and elsewhere that if it is true that Moshiri is meddling to the point of Brands being unable to do his job - then Brands as DOF should have the integrity to resign.
He didn't - he accepted promotion to the board, and much later down the line renewed his contract.
When you do that, you lose the right to shift blame to others.
I would say if Brands is doing lip service then it's even worse than just having a meddling owner - no DOF has complete autonomy - they all have a boss and all work in coalition with managers etc.
What's done is done - the record, and how backwards we went under Brands is clear for all to see.
What did Brands do well at Everton? If he had some of that, he wouldn't feel the need to deflect and blame to save face.
Mindful we're moving away from Kevin Thelwell mind...
With regards to deflection, perhaps he is. You're also right about the potential integrity and credibility issues with his contract renewal and whatnot.
However, it's very easy from outside to say someone should walk away from their job and role. Would walking away be itself be question? A failure?
If you'd been in a role where you were undermined and your credibility shot away through (partly) other people's issues, would you not feel aggrieved?
Some may say as he's trying to blame and deflect, which could be partly true, but to some extent he may be wanting to right wrongs that could have occurred.
In terms of Thelwell, you're obviously the boss of the place and judge what's relevant or not, however I do feel there's enough relevance here.
The proof will be in the pudding of course, yet I think people will be concerned how much freedom and support he'll receive when we have an meddling owner.
He's also having to do a job that is far more heavily constrained because of the failures of Moshiri, Brands and others. That's a real concern for me.
My 2 pence is: Brands didn't do a good job although I don't fully blame him nor do I blame him for saying stuff now. Let's hope Moshiri doesn't act like that again.
