We need a full reset. If Lampard goes then so should Thelwell because he provided players not good enough to represent Everton.

Were they Thelwell's choices, though?

The big problem for us as fans is that we don't know.

The club has never been clear on roles and responsibilities - which is one of our biggest issues as a football club. The club keep accountability vague and to themselves, so they don't have to face any properly-focused criticism.

Yes I agree on that point. The vagueness of responsibilities helps avoid accountability.

But the way I see it with the DOF is that either they have authority to make signings, in which case Thelwell failed last summer. Or they don't have authority to make signings, in which the case the role is totally pointless, and should be done away with.

Well if they don't have that authority, then I'd argue that's what needs to change as opposed to doing away with the role.

If there's one thing we need, it's stability - and a proper DoF system is designed to offer that. We should have a proper DoF system.

Let's be fair - Maupay had looked like a competent footballer for a while at Brighton. Not a world beater, but at least ok at this level. If Lampard was always going to just play our central striker as a target type, Maupay should never have been considered - whether Lampard articulated that to Thelwell we will never know, but in the right system Maupay is ok. Nothing more, nothing less. In the wrong system, he's poor and that's the Maupay we've seen.

He may look to have about as much conviction as a wet lettuce when he's on the pitch, but he undoubtely has talent.

Similar to Maupay, looks to be getting mis-utilised/coached to me..

I definitely agree on Maupay. He was an 8-9 goal season striker previously. He's underperforming for whatever reason, whether that's coaching or something else

I agree, the decision makers are the problem.

That's a really tough place to work ourselves out from, too.
