Doubt we will ever know what we had to spend, especially in January. Ings seemed the most obvious choice but apparently we could only offer a loan. He may be doing a crap job, he may be working in the perimeters he was given
No the most they would do is sell, it wasnt us only offering a loan, but no way did they want to strengthen a rival.
Didnt he get injured? i could be wrong but im sure he did, meaning we got Ings %100 right by not buying him

£35m on McNeil and Maupay
That’s not quite true apparently maupay was 11 with add ins to 15 and McNeil 12 with add ons to 19. Down payments were under 10 for both. McNeil I wouldn’t have bought for 12 mill, maupay was a deadline day signing,
Basically a last minute buy because we couldn’t get the 3 or 4 we were trying for before him.

It’s such a lazy argument to throw out that we spent 35mil.

Why on earth wait until deadline day ??? We didnt wait until deadline day, we spent all window tying to get players but not wanted to be a part of Everton.
You say why on earth wait until deadline day, what did you want him to do, stop trying with 48 hours to go?
No I wanted him to start trying in the summer, when he failed to get a centre forward then, I wanted him keep on working on a deal through the first half of the season, to get a deal in place ready for the January window. When the window opened I wanted him to complete the deal and sign the player. So no I didn't want him to stop trying with 48 hours to go. I suppose he was too busy doing bits.

No surprise to see you defending him by the way, when he came out and praised Billy Liar this week over the Pickford deal.

Offering Watford a 2mil loan fee on deadline day for their best player is hardly spending All window trying to get players

How do you know he wasnt trying in the summer ? How do yo know he didnt have players lined up? like Danjuma ? but then maybe they seen the mess we had got into and thought no chance.
Thelwell isnt the problem here, this has been going on for a lot longer, he is just the one brave enough to try and fix this mess

Looking at the squad its so unbalanced look at the army of Cbs we have and very little quality in forward areas it's not all his fault as reportedly he didn't have a big budget(although having Danjuma in the building and not getting him signed was a kick in the teeth)but the lack of moves made is what could send us down

I didn't say Thelwell was the only problem, but, he is undoubtedly a big part of it. He is director of football and has spent money in other positions in the team yet not recruited in the one position we really needed to fill. You're right of course, the problems here have been going on for twenty years and continue to do so, but, that doesn't excuse Thelwell for his failure to bring in a centre forward in either of his two windows here.

But by then everyone had said no to us, its not his fault Southampton is a better option then Everton
Southampton is only a better option because they offered actual money. It’s came from a few good sources that Everton were a hindrance the last couple of days of the window. Talking to clubs and agents but basically wasting their time with cheap offers. And of course Bill was involved, like back to the moyes days of last minute panic buys or not getting anyone for a couple of windows. To
Watch this space.

Go and offer 25mil for Sarr from Watford, if that’s who we want

Can't believe Carlin has the nerve to say that about anyone, when his hero used to say I'm not paying wages to players who are sitting on the beach. So Bill was very busy, ( when we actually bought someone), only at the very end of the T/W, that was his speciality when he was the owner. Remember going three transfer windows without buying a first team player under Bills tenure.

We didnt spend anything close to 35 on them, payments spread over the length of contracts and add on could possible go as high as 35 but they never will.
Kind of amusing that some of those moaning we spent 35 on these two players are the same ones who wanted us to spend another 35m in January on similar standard players just to get someone

The only time we've heard from him recently was that rubbish about the Chairman being such a big reason Pickford signed an extension.

There's no objective evidence he is capable of being a success here. What are his credentials to be a director of football and running recruitment at the club.

Recruitment is not his thing you can see that hence why he has recently put together a team. THAT is something you can have a go at him about as given our history in this area you think it would have been one of the first things he would have sorted when he started in the role. IMO I think Thelwell is more of an administrator type, more of a technical director. Normally with a DoF you would expect them to be doing the first team, academy, recruitment, medical, fitness, and analysis, so essentially overseeing everything. Whether he does this or is even allowed to do this who knows, but I know there is more to his job than recruitment. If we can get shut of Kenwright I'm interested in seeing how that changes our approach to any future transfer dealings and if we start to hear more from him.
