I disagree , referring to Brands public comments, it is evident that any DoF would find it extremely difficult to operate in the environment created by our wholly dysfunctional board.
Unless and until this chaotic situation is resolved it is impossible to cast definitive judgement on people subject to this poor governance.

Happy to take the money for 3 years then go..nothing to do with me. Him trying to protect his reputation hasnt got much to do with me as an Everton fan. Lets not forget 3 awful players. Doucoure, iwobi and Godfrey represent this club on the pitch down to him.

Godfrey was down to the chairman and his contacts and Id be very surprised if Brands whose idea of a wide player was more Luis Diaz type really picked Iwobi as a signing, Brands signings were the ones all around the £20-25m mark as that is his market he likes to work in. Hence he had little to do with Iwobi.

Unless there is proof of that im going to go with the DOF. Same with iwobi. We know for a fact doucoure was brands. And given he couldnt kick snow off a roof there is good cause to question brands. If these players come in under their watch then i will presume they had a role. Otherwise its pointless having a DOF and anyone who takes it and is allegedly undermined wont get a free ride as they are happy to take the money.

I’m not sure we can pick and choose which players were different people’s signings. If that actually is the case then it’s an even bigger car crash behind the scenes than it looks. The Director of football is either responsible for all signings or none, and if it’s the latter then why is he even a paid employee?

The role is a lot more than just recruitment, it's overseeing all areas of the football team so there is plenty to do.

Yet we know the board have the final say on transfers as the owner has told us that himself. It's a massive car crash I agree Mike and whilst Kenwright is still about he will always want to hover over the shoulder of any manager/dof imo making it very difficult for them to work.

Recruitment is a vital part of it. Hence why we are on the verge of relegation.
Cant just brush that under the carpet.
The role is basically a large scale project managers job, nothing more. It's the DoF job to appoint a recruitment team ie head of recruitment, scouts, data analysts. It has never worked for us because we have a chairman who is still stuck in a time warp from 30 years ago where he thinks he can still meddle in team affairs (Sullivan at West Ham is similar, it's just that old skool type) and an owner who sadly associates with leeches like Kia Joorabchian who have proven track records of causing financial damage to football clubs.
Brands got stuck in an awkward situation imo, some of the names he claims (yes i know) he tried to bring in are decent players but he was constantly told the board had sorted things. I do agree that he stayed too long and collected the money, he clearly knew things were not happening here and should have walked imo. Thelwell just seems out of his depth tbh, he has very little of a track record, he is only just putting a recruitment team together now when it should have been one of the first things he did when he got the job. His background is more youth based and you can tell imo.

With all due respect i could list known good players and say i wanted them. The proof is more in the pudding at who actually came here. Half the players clubs like Brighton recruited wouldnt be known to most fans. That should be where you earn your money. Due diligence to what goes on the pitch. Look we know doucoure was signed by brands. Ancelotti said it. I honestly think if even i went to watch doucoure once or twice as a scout id have gone nope. Couldnt pass water. Lets move on.

Thats just hearsay. Though i wouldnt doubt it. There was something fishy about that one. You had to have rocks in your head to agree to that signing.

Moshiri was trying to bring in Zaha but we were priced out by Palace so Kia offered Iwobi up as a cheaper “alternative”. Of course Moshiri knowing absolutely nothing about football and it being deadline day, went along with it.

You would like to think any DOF with any pride would say thats a bad move. My job here is untenable.
Seems to me quite a few people give the role here a easy ride because of Moshri but i just see them as part of the problem. I mean we know that Thelwell signed Maupay.

Moshiri offers them loads of money to basically be a token a gesture and just exist with a job title that sounds good, and of course money is more important than professional pride. Once again for anyone that missed it, Moshiri is the fundamental problem at this club.

Cant disagree with any of that.

We probably have half a dozen players that are good enough for a 1st 11.

In theory we should be able to attack the market as soon as we know our fate. Stay up and we'll have the Kean money in addition to whatever was there in January.

The trick will be to focus on "only" 3 signings to come straight into the team.

Central midfielder
Right winger
Centre forward

Whatever funds we have must be used on those three positions + further funds must be generated from player sales for improvements at full back.
The bit in bold, about us getting money for Moise Kean this summer. Due to the allegations of financial irregularities and false accounting, I really think it’s possible Juventus will be in a position to pay us for him, or maybe not the agreed fee we thought. So, in that situation do we either accept him back as our player or have to agree a smaller fee with Juve?
