2024/25 Kevin Thelwell

I think re-loaning Harrison was a Dyche decision. tbf Young has been a solid buy, he's our best RB and LB atm
I will concede he has been on a solid run of form lately but that was after numerous horrendous performances last season and even this current season that cost us matches. I don't mind him starting the occasional game but he's not equipped to be the regular right back his physical limitations become apparent as in the man united game.

If only there was a quick attack minded player we could have thrown on against Brentford or given minutes vs Wolves...

Perhaps Scottish international Nathan Patterson or England u20 Roman Dixon?

Young does look good...but imo on closer inspection a ball past him and hes done. Same with Mangala.

I'm sure Bobble has said a couple of times that, as it stands, TFG are in conversation with Thelwell and it looks like he'll be kept on.

3 year contract with a mandate to rebuild a squad for long term success.

That would be ideal. Keep adding to the youth teams and orchestrate a new era.

Young shouldn't be starting regularly at his age. I'd like to see Patterson given more game time because he offers more going forward. That said, it’s fair to acknowledge Young has been one of our better performers this season, that shouldn't come as a shock, he's cut down on the individual errors and has been solid for most of the season. Jurys still out on Dixon but would love to see him get game time, but that just will not happen under Dyche.

Mangala is fine, he's done little wrong, played very well vs a very poor wolves side. He's a defensive midfielder so goals + assists aren't going to come in abundance.

Mangala is a crab and if hes a DM then the game has changed. Looks like a right sided central midfielder who waddles around and cant run.

£88.5mil approx todays team cost. Need to spend.

Iwobi wasn't good for us. He was better than some of the crap that replaced him, like Jack Harrison, but he was very unproductive here, just look at his assists and goals stats. His reputation has improved the longer he hasn't been here. The fee we got for him when we were on our backsides financially and with less than a year left on his contract was good business. There's a lot to chastise Thelwell for, no fullbacks and very poor forwards, for example, but the Iwobi sale is way down the list, in my opinion.
Look at his chances created from open play when he was used properly.

I wasn't his biggest fan to start with but he certainly proved me wrong.
His productivity dropped again when Dyche moved him to a right sided midfielder

I'm sure @Eggs ia Stephen Warnock...

Numbers totally off here yet again and zero mitgation...its absolutely bewildering how so called 'experts' (lol) or ex pros asked for a quote can literally lie like this...

Stephen Warnock has slammed Kevin Thelwell for his poor recruitment at Everton over the last couple of seasons.

The Toffees are currently a lowly 15th in the Premier League table and, while they spent a fair bit of money in the summer to bolster their ranks, things haven’t quite gone to plan.

Players such as Jake O’Brien have barely had a chance to prove their worth, and while others such as Iliman Ndiaye have been an instant hit, it feels like Thelwell should have done far better.

Warnock was speaking about Everton’s recruitment live on Sky Sports News (16 December, 12:30pm) and shared that he thinks somebody needs to be held “accountable” for the wastage of money at the club.

“There needs to be an understanding of how the club’s run. Since Farhad Moshiri took over, there’s no clear direction. The other thing that needs more accountability is the signings. Kevin Thelwell is in charge now and has spent an awful lot of money,” he said.

“He’s spent an awful lot and got away with it. A lot of people say ‘Everton haven’t got money’. They signed Beto for £37million – he’s on the bench. There are lots of others – [Youssef] Chermiti for, what, £20m. It hasn’t worked.

Straight away, you have two strikers for more than £50m. Why is Thelwell not accountable for those signings? Lindstrom has come in for £20m – on the bench. O’Brien comes in for £20m – not played. They have money but don’t know how to spend it. Yet nobody is accountable for it.”

Beto £37m. 😂 Stephen deserves to be on TV

…..interesting. Glad somebody from the media is finally noticing the mediocrity he’s acquired and calling him out. Thelwell will be distraught, he wants to go unnoticed and let Dyche be the scapegoat for it all.

With the Take over now complete and with most of the Senior setup out of contract in the summer.

Doucoure, Young, Begovic, Calvert-Lewin, Virginia, Gueye, Keane, and Coleman are out of Contract.

Broja, Harrison, Lindstrom and Mangala on all on loan.

Dyche and his coaching team and Thelwell are all also out of contract this summer.

I personally think direction of signings made by Thelwell have been good except for Maupay. so i would be happy for him to stay on but does he fit what we need?

Yeah, transfers look good maybe except Maupay and maybe Beto.

Maupay for me was not per se a bad one, he had double digits at Brighton cost slightly over 10m, just didn't work out here. We did way worse business under his precessors at least financially.

But I am sure some players would show more under a better manager.
