If we were to go with 3 attacking midfielders next season, lets say first choice 3 will be Walcott, Sigurdsson & Bolasie (i would bin Bolasie but i cant see that happening), that leaves us with Vlasic, Dowell & Lookman as those 3 players back up, they could each get 20-30 appearances next season, which at 21/22 isnt bad going compared to other players there age.
By the age of 23/24 all 3 would be ready to displace the first choice 3.
Obviously that wont be the case as this is some sort of a plan/strategy and we all know that we are going to buy 6 right wingers and 14 left wingers this summer

Oh i forgot Onyekuru too, we deffo need to bin Bolasie off

Pep has rotated his CBs and his Strikers pretty much all season, its what a sensible manager that at 1 point was pushing for 4 Trophies does.

If your suggesting Stones made a mistake to leave a team going nowhere to join a team that has already won the League Cup, is about to win the League and is in the QFs of the CL, then I dont really know what to say to be honest.

He's well shot of us

You know, I get that from the standpoint of trophies, he clearly is in a much better spot. As long as thats whats important to him. If playing time and improving as a player is important? Then its not looking quite as good. Stones has only played 1100 minutes this season, and the whole "rotation" idea is not true, because hes played only 9 minutes in the last 6 matches.

Theoretically you could go to a team, never play a minute, and get trophies, but depending on if you are actually competitive and care about your career, Im not sure thats a good thing. A mans got to think about the direction of himself, not just the direction of a team. Which one is more important to him answers the question of whether moving to the bigger team was worth it or not.

I think you're overreacting mate. He played every week till he got injured, then lost a bit of form on his return and is consequently out of the team. He'll be back in at some point.

I mean he’s never actually shown anything other than a sweet left foot has he?

I remember when Ledson was going to be a future England captain.
This is the problem. We've got a lot of talented kids that aren't ready to step in at the highest level, but do you keep loaning them out to championship sides?

Dowell has a fantastic left foot, but where does he play? He's not a good athlete, he's not going to play outside, but he can't tackle well enough to play as a DM. He's more if an attacking mid, but he's not playing ahead of Sigurdsson or Rooney yet. I'd keep him around and ease him into the team I guess.

Well again, from his point of view, hes playing under 1 of the most regarded managers in football, training with some of the best players in the world, hes learning every single day just being on the same training pitch as Vincent Kompany, im sure he didnt think he would go to City and nail down a place straight off the bat.

I don't know, he made a career choice that was a no-brainer in terms of wages and trophy winning potential, but he really doesn't seem to be kicking on. He could learn a bit from watching Kompany and all, but it's no substitute for actual competitive game time and he's getting less and less of that. I wouldn't be surprised to see him moved on.

I hope he becomes the player I thought he would be, because literally none of my other forecasts about players have ever materialised. It's almost as if I know nothing about football.

I think he has stalled too.

esp when you see the way pep has turned sterling around...

and playing with company every day, you'd think he would have learnt more , he seems to play at the same level as he did here. always got a mistake in him.

If the Dutch player of the year, who has won three titles and appeared over twenty times in the champions league can't get in our side, what makes everyone think dowell is the answer to our problems?

Because he might not be crap like that player.
