Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Most players can be categorized as either brilliant, mediocre or rubbish. The thing about Barkley is, he could fall into all of those categories in a single game and throughout the season. All of his managers have dealt with that with varying degrees of success, but the bottom line is, he has not become the player we all thought he would be (not helped by newspaper and pundit hype), you know, the world class superstar that would lead Everton (and England) to glory. Being "one of our own", the expectation was immense, because we could all see the potential.
Just me wildly speculating here, but I am thinking Koeman is a manager with very little patience when it comes to dealing with temperamental artists like Barkley, and although he may well have been offered a new contract (based upon that potential), I think, again guessing, Barkley does not like Koeman's methods, and simply cannot handle the pressures from not just the coaching staff, but also the fans (he himself being one). If this is the case, then maybe he will flourish elsewhere.
Either way, it will be interesting to see how another club handles him and what happens to the enigma that is Ross.
I want to say I wish him well, but not that well, I mean I don't want to see him badge kissing and trophy lifting for one of our rivals for the next ten years.

Maybe Ross feels like he's gone stale, as if he's not progressing like he should?
Can't get a sniff of international football even when playing well?

During the last barkley topic, people were calling out Ross to stop messing the club around and to tell the club yes or no...

Koeman today told everyone, that barkley told him end of the season he wanted to leave?

Although it will be gutting to see him go, good luck to him and hopefully he can reach the levels of ability he was tipped to have!

Its £50m for a guy who can cross well and failed at spurs, at that price it's woeful business in the extreme.

he didn't fail at Spurs.
Poch wanted to keep him and described him as 'the perfect player'. I've said this loads of times.

Gylfi fits what Koeman wants. He's got bags of quality - and you evidently haven't watched him if you think it's just crossing btw - and works extremely hard off the ball as well.

If he comes he's going to be a success.

It's a huge fee but we've got money to spend. In a world where Walker costs £53m, or a one-season wonder (so far) in the Bundesliga is rated at £80m, then we have to accept we're going to have to overpay.

Nothing in the last 4 years has indicated that this will be much of a loss. The chances of his enormous potential even being half fulfilled in his career are probably now pretty low, given he's going on 24. As it stands, he's not performing at the level we'll need our forwards to be at if we're to break the top 4/5.

Lukaku, of course, will probably be a big loss, as it's near impossible for us to find a better goalscorer who'd be willing to join (aside from the fact he's a far superior and was an infinitely more important player than Barkley). Dealing with that loss will be a challenge for Koeman.

On the contrary, in this case there's no shortage at all of players performing at a higher level than Barkley has been recently (because that's really not very hard) who would undoubtedly improve us. I'd go as far as to say we've cocked up hugely if this represents even a minor blip to our progress under Koeman.

As for his career and choices, I really don't care. I think we are perfect for him on paper, currently, but he obviously has his reasons. If they're footballing reasons, I think he's made a terrible call, but if otherwise, then fair play to him.

Literally all my mates are spurs fans and not one single one rates or rated him. No garauntee of him being a success imo.
