Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Good luck to him, but I don't see any teams better than us being interested.

This is what confuses me. Where exactly does he think he's going on to bigger and better things? Or is it something else that's motivating this? I couldn't see him leaving England and he doesn't get into the first eleven of any of the sides above us.

If Ross can't hack it here I doubt he will hack it anywhere. He has struggled, at times, to be an automatic starter in a mid table Everton team, how does he imagine he will fare any better in a champions league team?

If he doesn't like Koeman, he doesn't need to, Koeman is his boss not his mate. I think that Ross has the ability to be a world beater, but, I question his decision making and mental toughness.

I am disappointed that he has chosen to leave at this pivotal time in our history, boyhood blue and all that, I sincerely hope he does not come to regret it.

You don't know what has been said between Koeman and Ross Barkley in private conversations. Please stop acting like you're some pinnacle of knowledge on all things Everton.

State your opinion by all means, but do not claim to know facts when you don't.
I dont need to be in on a private conversation because this manager told everyone in a news conference that Barkley had been told to sign or leave.

It's on record...unlike the facts and figures of Barkley's contract negotiations.

Lukaku wasn't entering the last year of his contract. He gave us one more season to progress and we only got back to where he was three years ago (not quite but close enough) and he wanted out.
He was badgered to sign and wouldn't. So he was sold.

BTW a manager who walked out in his final season's contract at S'ton is standing in the centre of a glass house when handing out ultimatums to players who do the same.

What's put out to the press and what is said in private is entirely different situations.

What do you want us to do?

The FACTS are:

Barkley has rejected an Everton deal.

That is ALL we know. Do you want us to keep a player who is clearly running down his deal and thus we get nothing for him?

You're the one going mad on the fees we're paying, you should be happy we're trying to get maximum value from a player who has rejected a very good contract.

This bedding in period, that seems so overrated. Did Gueye need a long bedding in period last year, or Schneiderlin, or Ashley Williams?

I agree that players really should hit the ground running. Very important for us those forwards we've brought in do exactly that.

No mate, I wanted a smart club strategy that involved making Barkley an offer at the beginning of the time Koeman arrived and tie him up with us, then if the manager wanted to exercise his options we wouldn't be now being mugged off by Spurs and taking £25M for a £40M-50M rated player.
