Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Every league win as a coach was followed by a season in the CL. He made it to the quarter finals at least twice:

2001: Lost QF with Ajax against AC Milan (in injury time)
2005: with Benfica eliminated Man United, FC Porto, Liverpool, lost to Barcelona in the QF.

Koeman didn't win the league with Benfica. Trappatoni assembled that team and won it the year before Koeman arrived, hence the champions league qualification for the following season. His only league wins also come in the same league that Steve McClaren once mightily conquered and where Afonso Alves and Kezman blammed them in.

So [Poor language removed] what?

Post was about koemans record in Europe, poster was replying to Dave who insisted Koeman would never manage in the cl by showing he had done and had done far beyond expectations when in it

Threatened by relegation = 11th.

You should have been here when Moyes took us to 17th and Smith near destroyed us.

When Moyes arrived, he took us from 19th in his first part season and with just a handful of games left he kept us up. He then proceeded to make us into a consistent 'top half' team. We finished 11th twice under Martinez, but spent both of those seasons flirting with relegation. In 2014/5 we had to win 6 of our last 10 games to finish 11th.

Selective nonsense again to suit your agenda....

It's relevant because I don't think the debate is/should be about whether Koeman can manage in the champions league. Last time I checked we weren't in that competition yet. How about we see if he can get us there first

I don't do ignore mate. It seems to beggar the point of a forum.

Pretty sure he has me on ignore though as he hasn't answered any of my factual retorts to his Flat Earth make-believe.

Never does. I'm still waiting for the sources of his "Koeman told Barkley to leave" claim.

Good luck to the boy Ross. .. he's hit a wall here and needs a fresh challenge to ignite his progress again.. . Can't blame the lid for leaving

Which wall is that mate? The one were you pass the ball before you get tackled? The one were there's more money the other side? Or the one that you just keep bouncing back of?

It's mad all of this and there's something odd about it I'm certain.

Nothing mad at all... he needs a new challenge... same as Wayne coming get back. .. players get stale... it's not rocket science

He's not even been in the first team long to get stale tho lol well this league anyway still got to improve his game etc. something isn't adding up in all of this I can bet my bottom dollar on it

Barkley will go to a top club and win five or six Premier League titles, along with the Europa League, the League Cup, the FA Cup and the Champions League.

Then he'll come back after 13 years when we're still going on about our last title victory in 1987.
