Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

Must be so tempting to let him do this unless somebody comes up with what we want for him.

That said, 25m with a year of his contract left seems about right to me. I appreciate that is 20+ less than we are paying for Gylfi, but rather have a player who isn't so precious.

With Dowell stepping up as well, I think we will soon have forgotten Ross (could have been a good one) Barkley.

Yeah, while he's a saleable asset we should cash in. Its just a shame really.
A shame he never turned out as good as we hoped, that he didn't see fit to stay just when it looked like we might be on the up and that now that he is going to leave we will probably have to take a hit on the price.

All very Neil (Disa) Pointon

He'll be at a top four club for the start of the season and playing CL next season.

if he is, I think its probably better to say that he will be at a top four club and that the club will be playing CL football next season with Ross likely to be on the bench.
Put I take your point. If he does however go to West Ham or similar then I think that would tell a story in itself.

exactly, until deadline day when we will probably get put over a barrel. Will be interested to see how the club handle this one.
ill guess you don't hold out any great hope?
Just the fee to agree now. I suspect he's already decided which club he'll be at next season and personal terms will be sorted on the quiet. Everton hold no hand whatsoever thanks to the ridiculous negotiating tactics adopted so will take an 'undisclosed fee' - in reality about half what they're demanding. I suspect it will be Spurs, despite all recent talk of United and Arsenal.

This bedding in period, that seems so overrated. Did Gueye need a long bedding in period last year, or Schneiderlin, or Ashley Williams?

I'd say it's more for them
To gel as a team rather than individuals.

How many teams look disjointed after a number of signings.

Although he's previously stated about champions league football,

Maybe he's not bothered about a top 4 club, maybe he just wants 'a new challenge'

A new challenge is a new challenge regardless of what team he's going to?

yeah, the loss of power to negotiate a fee annoys me the most.
I think United could be a runner, especially now the money is a bit lower. He may see more of an opportunity there than Spurs, City or CHelsea
