Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

There is a danger this is being over complicated. At the end of The day Ross knows he isn't Koeman s first choice, and from that fact wouldnt want to sign a new deal. Fair play he may not be first choice at Spurs but if you're going to be the on the bench at either club can't blame him for choosing Spurs, and a manager that might value him more

As I said, Joyce was rather critical of the club and Koeman's handling of the Ross situation.

He's a good writer, and a genuine bloke by all accounts - even for a red.
Fair enough on Joyce on that one article then. Actually I heard a 5Live interview with Dominic King the other night and he too was pretty balanced on the Barkley stuff.

We'll lose our best two this window and I must say I'll be intrigued how they do at their respective clubs. My hunch is they'll be setting the PL on fire.

Lukaku has, even in pre-season, shown just what he did at us.

A brilliant finisher and when he has service is an outstanding player.

When the service isn't coming to him he can't make things happen on his own - or not consistently at least.

Until he adds that to his game, he won't be world class.

We all know the issues with Ross. He could thrive, but equally so he could plummet and be sat on the bench for two years.

For his case I hope it'd be the former as he's got all of the natural ability going for him. The question is, does he lack the nous to go with it.

I think all in all Dave we have pretty decent journos who get the juicy stuff from the club.

Yeh, there's bound to be a bit of back-scratching, but in this instance it wouldn't be in anybody's interest to lie, really - as Ross could quite easily refute it and that would be the bigger story.

Didn't certain "trusted ITKs" state that a contract hadn't even been put on the table until just prior to the end of last season?

That would place a different complexion on things.

Not really, if a player wont sign he wont sign, regards of when it was offered, unlucky.

Lukaku: if he stays fit I'd back him to get close to 30 goals this season.

Barkley: in a new environment with a lot to prove I think you'll see him turn it on like never before. I reckon he'll be in the England squad at Moscow next summer barring injury.

The only thing I think this argument falls down on is Koeman was willing to sanction a big money offer to keep him at the club.

It could well be part of Ross' thinking, but I think he's just been poorly advised tbh. Anyway, we'll see what happens.

Again though, that could have just been to ensure he signs so that the club get a good fee for him when he moves. It's all just guesswork and conspiracy theories I know.

If a reporter leaves the Echo they have half a chance (no more than that) of being objective about Everton. But there isn't an Echo reporter in my memory that hasn't been (or soon become) a cats paw for the club. They are literally business partners that paper and EFC and so they never like to rock boats.

I agree on Rom. I think he'll get 30 goals this season but it'll be interesting to see who those goals come against.

I don't agree with the attitude that he isn't a 'big game' player, but at the same time I don't think he's a player who's going to drag United to glory either.

There's every chance Ross will be in that squad, yep. In fact, a move to Spurs pretty-much guarantees it whether he starts regularly or not, IMO.

Arsenal would probably be a good option for him, should Sanchez and/or Wilshere go.

Lukaku scores goals where-ever he is. Average footballer but world class goalscorer. He will suffer dry spells like he did with us but we granted him time to get through those, we had no choice other than Kone. What happens at United when that happens willl be interesting but i have no doubt he'll go on to be an amazing striker for them and could be the difference between finishing 3/4th or winning the league. United struggled t beat the lower teams in the league last year and those are the ones that Rom thrives against.
My gut feeling on Ross is he will stand still for a season whereever he goes. If he goes to one of the 6 above us he'll need too fight to win and keep his place, something he's never had to do before. He may sudden explode into life but i think he'll just be ok. Have the occassional fantastic game like he did for us and then several which are just ok. The season after that, once he's settled he'll either be amazing or become another Wilshere.

Hate to say it, but United are winners. That attitude will rub off on Lukaku very quickly and he'll be bossing a lot of big teams in big games.

Well it must suck to be a current journo at the Echo then because they get nothing...

At the same time, there really isn't that much to rock the boat about.

The debt has been wiped, and will be reflected in the upcoming accounts.

The stadium groundwork is beginning, though of course there is a long way to go.

Commercially we are improving and on the pitch we're moving in the right direction, but just in a different way to how we probably imagined. That isn't a bad thing, I'm convinced that change is good when you're changing something that hasn't been working to its full potential.

But he's a massive talent. Anyone who did write him off to be a big star in the PL at an elite club would do so at their peril.

I'd like to take this moment to officially write him off.

If he'd have buckled down and started hanging out with TD he'd have had a chance.

Spent his summer getting thrown out of hotels in LA and Vegas after that incident in town. Moron.

I think we can agree that the two at least have the potential to be PL greats. I have no doubts on that score. Of course, potential isn't always actualised.
