Koeman: "Barkley looking for a new challenge"

He informed the club/Koeman end of last season?!

Koeman and Everton fc were the ones who have dragged this out.

They've had many opportunities to tell us of barkleys decision! But decided to remain silent, making out it was barkley who was keep quiet about the situation
How has the club dragged anything out? Nobody has come in with an offer for the lad, what were we supposed to do? Put it out in the media that both us and Ross are desperate for a quick sale? The club has obviously been trying to convince Ross that he's making a massive mistake and having a quiet word with him rather then taking it public. Barkley is 100% to blame for this whole fiasco and nobody else.

If you look back, a lot of people were saying about barkley staying silent in the whole of this, and that he should just inform the club of his decision etc,

Well he did tell the club, back in may!
Why have the club only just come out now and said?!

Just give the lad 140k a week and when he signs sell him on next year, it is really not hard at all. Some idiots work for Everton.

You couldn't make it up. i suspect Ross will go to Spurs for 30-35 mill. We spend 45-48 on Gylfi. Basically Spurs get a massive discount on a 50 mill pound player with a 5 mill cherry on top from us.

You have to respect the way Spurs go about things.

And we're trying to catch up on United and Spurs. The two teams are directly making sure that doesn't happen before a whistle is even blown.

So the club should of pandered to people on an internet forum having a meltdown because they wanted an answer now?! It's not the club's fault if people drew the wrong conclusions about what was going on. Should they of made a public stament to simply satisfy people's curiously and potentially cost the club money? Maybe they were trying to change his mind but wanted to keep the whole episode behind doors.

I'm gonna say this again, it is not the job of Everton Football Club to pander to a bunch of bad bedwetting virgin's on an internet forum cryarseing because a player wants out.

Lol.

No. The club let this get into a position where he'll leave for next to nothing and all because they failed to exert financial discipline over its manager.

Utter codswallop.

Dave in spite of everything I have always regarded you as an intelligent person - and that is not in any respect meant to be patronising. But if you really and truly believe (ie. as opposed to just trying to wind people up on here) that the exclusive responsibility for the spending of funds on players has been handed over to a completely unrestrained Koeman, then I am rapidly reassessing my view.

He was our next best player after Lukaku last season. Anyone who didn't see that need to have a word with themselves.

Well, if you set EVERYTHING by statistics, then you're fine in your ivory tower...

But there is more to football than bald statistics.

If we worked on statistics only, all of the time, then Leicester City would not have had a sniff of the Prem title, given how little, in %age terms, they had of the ball in games...

Take the blinkers off, dave, look beyond the statistics, and recognise the inconsistency and lack of application in the lad.

I do believe YOU need to have a word with yourself...

Sorry mate that's rubbish, if Barkley wanted to go last season then why did he not put in a transfer request last season ? It's the players prerogative if they want to move. Everton had and have every right to try and persuade Ross to sign a new deal.

Stamped his feet VERY loudly after last summer and it seemed to have an effect. I think he needs reining in, but the problem is we have a weak officer corp at the club and an owner who looks at the money being spent as just cash derived from player sales and shrugs and leaves him to it.

For me you need some quality control there that only a proper DoF (not a glorified scout who is a yes man) can exert.
