Last Film You Watched

Venom. I just don’t know. It was ok. I couldn’t think of a bad part yet couldnt really name a good one. I dont really understand how they caught the things in the first place. If sound hurts them how do they talk? I thought Michelle Williams looked weird. Kind of unnatural. Hardy was mumbly Hardy but he seemed to enjoy it and he’s a good actor. Just seemed to play the same tune, although I think they could have made more of their relationship. Venom wants to go and then he just decides to stay? Did the Atrophy thing get worked out or was that just swept under the story? I guess I’d judge these films on rewatchability and this had none. Might watch a sequel but this just didn’t go anywhere.

Just watched Crimson Tide with Gene Hackman and Denzel Washington, decent film about a submarine in the cold war.
No Das Boot but a decent film with a bit of a stand off between two fellas who want to be top boy.

IT'S ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE AS A SUBMARINE MOVIE /notallcaps

On the flip side, Hunter/Killer is awful, but surprisingly gets SO many things correct!

Only LVT would be able to make a film questioning the validity of his own his films and high art dressed up as a serial killer film.

Violent and shocking, as a serial killer film it's pretty good but as a film about LVT's films (with LVT being Jack), it's very good. Would help if you have seen the majority of his films.

Gangs of New York,after constantly getting told it is a must see film,what a pile of crap,from the opening fight scene to the closing credits,a complete waste of time and a very good cast,its basically a long pantomime and probably the worse accents ever

Re-watching all the Wes Anderson films. My faves.

Really enjoyed Budapest Hotel. Really disliked Moonrise Kingdom to the point of skipping forward. We've got Darjeeling on dvd so let's see if Wes can get back credit in the bank.

that image looks like a Caravaggio. only watched Dogville and hated it. I don't use that word lightly. so no von Trier films for me since then.

haha! Daniel Day Lewis was the only good thing about it.

Moonrise is one of my favourites. Check out Rushmore.

Need to get round to this. Have seen most of his other films, so will be interested to see what he's got up to here.

It's worth trying a few more, Dogville was produced in a very specific way and all but one other are not done like that.

I'd go for Break the Waves, Dancer in the Dark and Melancholia. Antichrist for his shock factor side, maybe.

Hunter Killer

Mediocre, fairly entertaining, but in no way great. 5/10

@4737carlin

I thought both were fine...Hunter Killer was just a sit through and dont think too much film + Crimson tide was really great in the cinema.

I'm not really sure what else you could do with a submarine film...das boot was excellent of course but what others are there to compare?

@Zatara
True that, one thing I didnt like was the story was about something that did happen but it was on a Russian sub, dont see why they changed it to a US sub, well I do, but it might of been more interesting to keep it historically accurate
