Watched Frank Miller's: The Spirt for the first time in a long time yesterday and I know that I'm probably in the very, VERY small minority here but I still really enjoyed it. It was a fun way to kill 90mins at any rate.
That's true, and its always suffered because of the inevitable comparison between it and Sin City but I still maintain that it's nowhere near as bad as the critic's made it out to be when watched and judged based on it's own merits. After Sin City it was like getting kicked in the face.
Need to buy a lottery ticket.
The Irishman

Going to watch this tomorrow in London. From the director of Hereditary which I absolutely adored. A24 have the horror genre on absolute lock, Hollywood getting schooled hard.
Hereditary was good tbf, Not scary though and surely the point of horror is to frighten the audience. I think studios have to stop with the orchestral stabs, the jump scares, the grinning reflections, audio cues (the clop sound) ...and finally learn that showing more ...lessens the final impact.
Not meaning to [Poor language removed] the film, It was deffo enjoyable just curious how loads found it scary.
I didn’t find it that scary either but just consider it to be a top film with a great feeling of “uneasiness”, this is something A24 “horrors” films seem to have nailed. I’m also a big fan of “The Witch” and “It Comes at Night” which again fit into this category of horror which relies more on making the viewer feel uncomfortable rather than outright scared.
Old school horror never really did it for me if I’m honest, I prefer the more arthouse stuff.
Midsommar was good btw, darker than the trailer suggests
It's cool mate, my opinion, I think it has more to do with my age than anything, I grew up with older movies and nothing has touched them since, my daughter on the other hand struggled to sleep after watching hereditary so...
Don't know if I can watch it now after listening to this:
Better to look at averages rather than single reviews imo and it’s got decent ratings on IMDB.
Herditary had some good bits but i laughed out loud at the end as it was so stupid.
Midsommar
Watched it last night - like Hereditary, most of the cinema were laughing for the last half hour - and not at the crap basic 'laugh at the dumb American' bits that were supposed to be funny
Ari Aster horror films are not for me at all - His attempts at 'creepy' don't work and the absurdity of the situations he places his characters just escalate and escalate to the point where they become daft rather than chilling
