3 dark fables are interwoven from the folklore of Giambattista Basile with a theme of 'careful what you wish for'. Intriguing, strange and beautifully crafted, it won't be for everyone, but fans of del Toro and Gilliam will find a lot to enjoy.

Its on Prime.

Just watched, really enjoyed, very strange film and quite artsy. Definitely isn’t for everyone like you say.

This is the type of film you overlook on Netflix, as it doesn’t sound up to much, but is an absolute cracker.

Based on real events, Christian Longo, murders his family on goes on the run in Mexico, impersonating New York Times journalist, Michael Finkel.

When arrested he starts corresponding with the real Michael Finkel with a view to him doing a book.

James Franco is superb as Longo, as is Jonah Hill as Finkel.

Some very difficult subject matter relating to the murder of his kids.

Recommended.

Once Upon a Time in Holywood

Very disappointing. It didn’t even feel like a Tarantino movie for most of the time - it didn’t have his signature style. I thought the story was quite meandering. I’m sure it could’ve been made much more entertaining with a tighter edit. It’s the best part of 3 hours long, and after 2:15, I decided I wasn’t interested enough and left the cinema. All the best bits of the film were in the trailers.

...and this is coming from a big Tarantino fan.

Positives:
- Brad Pitt’s character was easily the most interesting.
- Leo Di Caprio is good in everything he’s in (though I wasn’t compelled by his character).

Long, slow moving and moody. Occasionally bursts into life with a riot of special effects. Enough references to the main Harry Potter films to keep die-hard fans happy. Gets better as the film goes on and, at the end, its obvious that it's not finished yet...
