Once upone a time in Hollywood, and I thought it was utterly brilliant. Were it not for the follwing moan I'd give it a 10/10.

The only thing that left me disappointed was the disgraceful depiction of Bruce Lee. Totally unnecessary and disrespectful to his family. Of course Tarantino just had to be an arsehole about it becuse he obviously knows better then the man's daughter his friends and acquaintances doesn't he. I love Tarantino's work but he can be one egotistical bellend of a man at times....... (n)

Too many issues with Once Upon a Time in Hollywood to make it a good film. Too much driving around for starters. He had a couple of superb characters in Di Caprio and Pitt, really ended doing nothing with them and threw in a very silly ending. If he’d have made this film 20 years ago he would have moulded it into an amazing story, but this was shallow, didn’t actually go anywhere. Quite disappointed in it and don’t think I’d bother even watching it again.

@Gwladysstreetlad I get your point but I kind of thought this was an embellished flashback - a one sided retelling of a story that got him kicked off the lot, rather than a dig at Bruce.

I would of accepted that explanation had Tarantino not doubled down and defended the silly portrayal of Lee, saying "he was kind of an arrogant guy". Which flies in the face of the views of just about everyone who was close to Lee but as I said, of course Tarantino knows better. Talk about being arrogant, that moron wrote the book on arrogance. Still, at least he didn't needlessly shoehorn in the N word during this film which must make it the first movie he's ever made to manage that. Small steps and all that......

Agree to disagree @McBain , I enjoyed it and think its gonna be one of those films that are even better on second viewing. Were it not for the horrible depiction of Lee I'd be waxing lyrics about the film.

I just found it pointless for the most part. Ambling around, unnecessary narration, Sharon Tate and that whole thread of story shoehorned into meaningless scenes. I would have loved it more if Rick Dalton had been true to Hollywood and been unlikable and arrogant behind the scenes, and come to his revelations at his lowest ebb. They lumped Brad the stuntman with a tinge of unsavoury behaviour but justified it with his nagging wife. Whats with the ending? I thought it was just stupid.

Could have been amazing, showcasing genres and deconstructing scenes, throwing in Celebrities left right and centre and unfolding a sprawling epic but what we got was a pretty boring.

Second time seeing this, forgot how great and subtly disturbing the film is.
