Last Film You Watched

Watched a film called The 33 earlier, about those miners that got trapped underground 10 years ago. Good film, possibly a bit too much like a diaster movie, which i guess it was, but they added a few disaster movie cliches which was a shame. Its kind of acurate but a few simple things are missed out, which is a shame, still worth a watch as its a great story

Its a shame they didnt show a rescue worker going down in a pod to see them before anyone came up, as that guy really risked his life not knowing for certain it would get back up, also a rescue worker was the last to leave not a miner as the film showed

I'd prefer Uncut Gens to win, yes. It's a Safdie brothers film.

Ive never heard of them before and didn’t think it was a great film by any stretch. Completely unlikeable characters with Carboard cut out villains tied together with manic anxiety in a pointless effort to what, gamble more? Some nice 80’s vibes but gave me abit of a headache tbh.

It was based on their dad, apparently. All their films are anxiety ridden and stressful. There is Good Time, Heaven Knows What and Daddy Longlegs if you fancy more of them.

Personally, I think these two could become two in of the biggest directors around in the next 10 years or so.

It definitely did have a unique tone, maybe one thing you can ask of a film maker is to carry their own voice while embracing collaboration. I think with a Pacino in the role it would have been special, I can see through Sandler too easily.

I listened to an interview with them and they seem to love Sandler.

This was the second script they had ever written, they approached Sandler years ago and he said no. They left it for a few years, then Sandler saw Good Time at Cannes then found the Brothers at the festival and said he wants to work with them.

Interestingly, they went for Kobe Bryant and were very close to getting him but the schedules didn't fit.

Watched a load of Studio Ghibli movies over the weekend for the first time, the only one I’d seen previously was My Neighbour Totoro. Felt the strongest of the 7 I watched (combo of Netflix and a borrow of my mate’s gf) the strongest were Castle in the Sky, Spirited Away and Kiki’s Delivery Service with the weakest being Ocean Waves

I'd go - and honestly there's very little to separate them because they're all great films..

Nausicaa
Mononoke
Laputa
Spirited
Kiki's
Howls
Totoro
Fireflies
Ponyo
Porco
Wind Rises
Arriety
Yesterday
Whisper
Earthsea
Poko
Cat Returns

I couldn’t even begin to start ranking them tbh.
