Last Film You Watched

Just watched a docu/film … Man on wire, French bloke Phillipe something walking between the twin towers on a tightrope in 1974 .. amazing what he done.
I love this, he was a nutter Haha when I first seen a photo of him the first thing I thought of was how did they get the wire from one tower to the other, genius what they did.

I am too young to remember the cinema release for Porky’s, but I do remember second-hand VHS tapes being worth their weight in gold ?
I was 7 when it came out but never got my hands on it! Probably censored. And by the time my, erhm, network had spread to places like Turkey where bootlegging was a booming industry it had pretty much been forgotten.

Anyone else swap VHS tapes via snail mail? I was a swapper in the C64 and Amiga scene for many years and since it all relied on reputation people sent me all kinds of weird shiznit. Boy, did my young self see some crazy things.

Primal Fear - great film, weird to see Frazier’s dad and captain Raymond Holt from Brooklyn Nine-nine in their younger days and I think I recognise the judge from desperate housewives. I kind of felt that plot twist coming at the end but it was still great acting from Norton. It was either going to be that or Roy was lying to get Aaron convicted and there was actually another person who did the crime. A solid 7/10 film.

Really looking forward to watching Dark Waters, even if the subject matter infuriates me.

Massive digression from the topic but...

I used to work in Oil & Gas back home in Norway and I remember we had a lot of talks about using/handling Teflon safely (gaskets and what not). Obviously, it led to us thinking about things like Teflon coated cookware and what have you. We all knew it was bad stuff.

Well, it's years later and I now work in the chemical / pharmaceutical industry in the US and boy, most people wouldn't belive what's going on higher up in those companies. The constant drive for higher profits leads to so much corruption. And don't get me started on lobbyism, which really is just white collar legalized corruption at this point. The really eerie part is how, on the top level, a lot of companies calculate profits versus legal costs if they're sued over product safety. Conspiracy theories? Only if you're extremely sheltered and naive.

Word of advice? Stay away from Roundup. And yes, GMO seeds are bad. Both the concept, how they're marketed, how they're made/coated/planted etc.

Back on topic...

I saw Interstellar again the other day. Still fantastic. Always make me tear-up a little too. Too close to home I suppose, having had a travelling job all my adult life.

Makes me cry every single time - That scene when he meets his daughter again ?

I watched this on the strength of its reviews, which were generally good - The Old Ways.

A Mexican American reporter returns to the village of her childhood on the Gulf of Mexico, to investigate local myths of demonic possession and the supernatural.

It’s not bad, but not great. The problem being is that it’s not scary, as the suspense never builds properly.

There’s nothing wrong with the acting, sets or the CGI, just feels a bit flat.

On Netflix.

If anyone fancies staying up for an absolute cracker of a film, this is on the Horror Channel tonight at 11pm :

No One Lives.

A group of rednecks decide to have some fun with a seemingly innocent young couple out in the sticks, which turns out to be a very big mistake.

An very early film for the always excellent Luke Evans and one of his best.

Off the scale brutal, but an outstanding film and worth staying up for.
