Last Film You Watched

We just watched a flick i bet no one here will ever see ....except maybe @Billy Dean

Hai-Alarm am Müggelsee (Shark-alarm at Lake Müggel).

I live a short walk from the lake, it's massive. We're so far south of Berlin that we barely count as Berliners, so the film has a lot of in-jokes about regional rivalries and the like. Add a bunch of absurdist random scenes (somewhat Kusturica-lite) and one superb single-take street scene and we got a rare likeable German comedy. 8/10 from my angle.

Just not sure if outsiders could get into it. Even German non-Berliners will struggle with a lot of the humour.
Haven't heard of that mate, I'll check it out. Is it streamed somewhere?

Sonic The Hedgehog (2020)

I freaking LOVED it. Don't be a miserable a cynic. The world needs more films that are just plain simple and FUN like this. Plus, Jim Carey will always be one of my comedy favourties. He puts in a very Carey-esque performance here.

9/10

i just checked, looks like Amazon & Youtube-Premium has it. But no subs, it seems. Expensive too, unless you've already got an account. OpenSubs has an SRT file.

We don't do streams, preferring to buy used DVD's for cheaps. We then sell the watched so-so films, keep the gooduns. Maybe for some a bit of a hassle, but it's great having a physical collection. Rarely some DVD's will have terrible pic-quality (The Abyss...for shame!) but usually they're good enough. Doesn't always have to be HD.

My release has English subs too, if you can find one. Her indoors just told me she saw one just last week at a local car-boot for a Euro.

Goodfellas - First time I've ever seen. Absolute classic, can't wait to watch it again. 9/10

Drive - Hugely overrated and over the top violent. Ryan Gosling was wooden throughout. 6/10 (extra mark for Carey Mulligan)

Last seen Alive - New Gerard Butler flick on Sky. Watching it tonight, expecting it to be entertainingly terrible.

Her old man used to post on Kipper, an absolute abortion of a man.

has he ever not been wooden?

was dull as hell enduring him in the new Blade Runner...the original showed us Replicants can be charismatic & are able to emote. No reason he played his role like a monotone robot, so i put that down to that just being his schtick.

Just watched Film Stars Don't Die in Liverpool - 2017 film with Anette Bening Jamie Bell Julie Walters Stephen Graham.
It's on BBC i-player. True story about the relationship between a Liverpool actor and a 50's actress called Gloria Grahame.
Poignant story - really well made - and the acting is as expected with that cast , first class. There's one moment that we'll all cheer. Great film.

Quite often hit a local charity shop for their 4 for £1 DVDs.

In amongst the landfill levels of mainstream releases it's a treasure trove of Jim Brown / Fred Williamson Blaxploitation type stuff, Billy Banks / early Van Damme / Cynthia Rothrock 80s era, an incredible amount of 70s Hong Kong Kung-Fu titles and other such B-movie genre nonsense. Always fairly short as well so you can knock a couple off in the time it takes to watch something a little more "worthy".

Given the price and the fact it's going to a good cause it's a no brainer for me.

good call...and cult rare finds like that sometimes fetch a bit online. The used-market for media like DVD's, Blurays and also music CD's/Vinyl is really active. And the less mainstream, the more demand.

not sure if you could call it a counter-movement to streaming, but there does seem to be a lot of people still preferring to own their own films & music via physical media.

Breaking the Waves

Not seen it for a while, forgot how dark it is (which should be obvious being LVT) but wow, he should be known much more for this than Anti Christ
