it was made also late-70's, this one's set in the 50's and is about tribal street gangs...well acted and unusual plot structure, and a couple of great scenes. seen it recently as well so not nostalgia talking.

Is save the green planet a Korean film? Sure I saw it and it was pretty average

Not the greatest movie of all time but a compulsive watch every year or two and a remarkable example of the pre-CGI age.

Part of me really dislikes CGI. It can be very impressive of course but there are other ways.

Jurassic Park being the most obvious example. The animatronics in the first movie peed all over all the following CGI dinos.

Part of me really dislikes CGI.

All of me hates it. It was originally supposed to be for touching up scenes and what not, now entire scenes are being animated with ludicrous swooshing cameras that are obviously fake. The model ships in the Alien films and 2001 Space Odyssey piss all over CGI imo

Agreed. It's almost like everything 'has been done' so they struggle for originality and even when they find something it's poorly executed.

That could actually be said for quite a few movie genres at the moment.

A little ironic when you're talking about a genre rooted in fantasy, so there ought to be no issue with everything having been done.
