Last Film You Watched

Watched The Infiltrator last night, decent performance from Bryan Cranston but an average film overall.
Yeah i agree there,it didnt quite hit the mark, lots of characters dropping in and out of the story without any depth to them, seemed to want to have every major player involved without out giving reason

Thought Cranston was excellent it. Really enjoyed it once it going.

The problem they had with the film, is that the actual undercover op lasted years and it was how to condense it. Which I think possibly meant the film was a bit disjointed - chraracters dropping in and out etc.

Agree he was excellent, just a shame that it didnt quite hit the mark for me

To add to the films that I wouldn't necessarily recommend are -

Garage (2007) - Dull, set in Ireland and dull.

Estranged (2015) - Claustrophobic, thriller (?).

Last Girl Standing (2015) - Awkward, can see the plot unravel.

Martyrs (2015) - It was ok, thriller/horror.

Charlie's Farm (2014) - Tara Reid and Kane Hodder (normally the villain) are in the usual type of slasher/horror film, was ok'ish.

Julia (2014) - Abuse/Rape revenge film with a twist, bit slow and can think of better films of this type.

8mm2 (2006) - Blackmail about a sexual encounter thriller. Tries too hard to be sordid but, with has a 'shock' for a plot twist.

Heli (2013) - Mexican (subtitled), 'violent'ish' drama, quite poor really.

Night At The Museum (2014) - Another instalment of the saga but, was actually ok. Watched it with my son, fell asleep but it was ok.

I'm trying to find something different to the norm, maybe I shouldn't?

Girl on the train...boring as hell until half way through...we could have left.

then it was ok 6/10.

Deepwater Horizon (cant remember if if i mentioned it already) its good due to wahlberg and Kurt Russell + a girl...the rest of it is pretty standard fare though malcovich is always an exquisite delight

Sounds like another example of a film subject that really ought to have been a tv series.

Hotel Transalvania

Watched it again with the kids last night. I actually really enjoy this film. It is funny, so many little jokes to make you laugh throughout even on a second or third watch through. Characters well constructed and good storyline if a little standard for a kids film.

Highly recommended

8/10

Dads Army 2016- what a disappointing film
It was a horrible film whichever way you look at it. I still can't fathom who their target audience was, if they'd of said it wasn't aimed at fans of the original series I'd of understood but it was such a stupid and frankly insulting film that it wouldn't of appealed to newer fans either. Such a wasted opportunity as they had a good cast to work with. Maybe it's just proof that some franchise's are better just left alone.

We watched an episode of Dad's Army recently. It's still the most wonderfully written comedy. Everything about it is perfect.

So I agree, what exactly was the aim of the new film?

When I first saw trailers for this I wondered what the point was? Can't see fans of the original going out in their droves to see it, and no one younger than 50 is likely to be remotely interested. Very strange decision, it seems to me, based purely on the construct that everything is a remake atm, with lots of tv shows getting films (Inbetweeners, Bad Education), and they just seemingly picked a show at random that didn't have a film attached yet!
