Thor was the first film in ages that I switched off. I really couldn't have cared less what happened to any single character.

It felt like one long FMV cut scene.

Crazy, Stupid, Love.

For a romcom it was really mature and original.

Also Ryan Gosling is my new favourite actor. He's reminded me what good acting is and what good actors can do. I'd forgotten.

Same universe but a completely different set of characters with a story which doesn't actually intersect with the main Alien story in any way. Were it not for the fact that some of the monsters look similar it could easily pass as a totally different series. Saying Prometheus is a prequel to Alien is like saying Iron Man is a prequel to the Avengers because they're set in the same universe.
I just got back from watching it, and it was brilliant. Thoroughly recommend people go and see it.

Good stuff. I've read reviews and they have not been very generous.

I'm not sure how they managed to not make it a prequel to Alien considering it is the same director and has the space jockey.

I'll wait until I see it so I can actually join this discussion.
