Lazy journalist - "Rodwell to .... for €15million" etc

Not for me to be honest, i would turn down all offers flat, if some of the fat needs to be trimmed id let Heitinga, Billy, Yak, Yobo etc go - as much as i love him, i would prob let Arteta go ahead of Rodwell.

We really need to stick to our guns on this one, how much is Rooney worth now - we were had no mistake.

Like I said, an ideal world.

We are not in a position to dictate what a player wants to do/go...its down to him. We dont have that financial power or success to sway things. They all have agents who see the bottom line and the player has the chance to play at the top level.

2 seasons or so ago when each season looked like we'd break into the top 4, that would be a different matter. But now...we're so far out the picture its not even funny. Its not Moyes' fault, or the players...its the boards.

And even if we those players mentioned did go (which they will)...we wont get enough to bring some quality in.

We would get in and around the same for them as selling Rodwell for 20 odd million which is shamefull. I would take a different tact mate, i would hold him to his contract - five years - as you say hes making his way in the game looking for playing time, i dont think he can dictate the way Lescott did because he doesnt have that impact or leverage yet. Selling Lescott was the wrong move, our results have pants ever since.

Even if he did go what type of quality are we going to get not trying to break the top four as you say - we should hold and hold fast.

As far as im concerned hes contracted to the club till 2015 so yes we can dictate, we just say sorry Jack your not leaving

Unless we get investment, we ARE a selling club. Any good talented player will leave us as soon as a decent bid is tabled.
Don't delude yourself that we can hang on to any of them.

If it were up to you - we'd just get them a car and drive them off.

Hopefully you're right about investment Matt and we won't have to worry about selling players, unfortunately we may have to to keep afloat if this doesn't happen.

I'm keeping optimistic.

I agree after this season we need to build the midfield around the likes of rodders, screech and barkley but if we go down that would all change.

Like contracts mean anything nowdays.

Like i said before moyes needs a sit down with him and other key players and talk about the what ifs so he can plan ahead.

Bullying rodwell and telling him he cant move to a champions league and title chasing club is only goin to make him move...and his agent more inclined to make him

Blimey all the doom and gloom on this thread; look at this point in time we are selling no one, period. We are not playing badly; reslts will come; the youngsters will gel; the team will be a force to be reckoned with and no one will want to leave because we are moving onwards and upwards;

Lets start having some positivity; say no to the negative and yes to the positive; yabbadabbadoooo !

I have to strongly agree with this.

The only similarity between Rodders & Asbo boy before him are they are & were 2 young players worth a bit of dosh. Rodders would more than likely be the 1st to admit he's not quite there yet as a player- he's not a matchwinner or a controller of games yet, which in both respects is not a criticism of him, far from it - as I would expect neither of them whilst he's still got so much learning to do. Whilst also none of the clubs reportedly interested in him are poor in terms of transfer funds, I am going to take an educated guess and say for 15m to 25m as I buying club I'd want close to the finished article ie the Belgian Stiff understanding the young & English premium that would no doubt accompany any fee. Chelsea,City & Madrid can buy the finished article as they have so many times before- United have invested a lot in youth but again who would Rodders be behind at Old Trafford?

He's really not the player yet a championship chasing side will take on at our likely valuation. Jacks not even 1 year in to a 5 year deal & thus If he gets over his current injury woes well, we have a successful cup run this season and Jack establishes himself in the side going into next season, I would expect him to be offered improved terms similar to how Seamus has been rewarded for his contribution to the team so far

Keeping things positive I fully expect Felli to agree to a new deal too of his current deal plus the increased money that was on offer to Stevie P. Whilst as KB so rightly says a contract means very little these days- we could expect at least another 12 months from Felli if he signs a new deal & if our current crop of players don't perform in the league next year to any degree a 25m to 30m cheque for Felli next year would be quite welcome in my eyes.

This summer I expect we'll have 20m plus worth of sales from Yak,Yobo,Vaughan,Johnny & Bily & 90 to 100k a week to be allocated to a decent covering CB/LB, Wide left player & striker on the shopping list- along with Felli & Rodders raring to go which I'm quite happy for folk to bookmark that if they wish.
