Le$cott out of shitty!

I remember a lot of people saying the same thing about Chelsea. After all, what had they done before Abramovich arrived? Now look at where they are. Sure, City could follow the same blueprint and eventually get the same results. There is no argument of that.

However Chelsea eventually had a manager in Mourinho that got them to play as a team vs. a collection of individual stars. Ancelotti looks like he can continue in that mold.

So it begs the question. Can Mancini do the same? I'm not sure. And I say I'm not sure because it's a different environment for him. But yeah, I don't think anyone doubts that if City keep pouring money at the top players, that they'll eventually challenge provided they get the framework right. With all that money comes added pressure. Can City (the staff and players) handle that pressure.

We'll find out.

Lets hope he gets out of his depression after his injuries!

I think this article by Hamman sums it up:

City might have the money, but if they're not going to use it wisely and rather throw it around carelessly then it isn't going to get them anywhere. Money worked at Chelsea, but Mourinho used it properly, and got the team to play as a team...

Also this quote:
"They missed a massive trick when they let a player of Richard Dunne's stature leave last year. He's still better than all the centre-halves they've got yet they paid five or 10 times more money for the others."

Why?!
Dunne = Solid player, good motivator and influence, main man in a defensive pairing.
Toure = Good defender, prone to mistakes, looked good cause of Gallas
Lescott = Money grabber, looked better than he was cause of Jags

Also they went after Terry = Cheat, very over-rated and made to look good cause of Carvalho...

None of these defenders that they went after were anchors/leaders in defence, and they got rid of the only man they had that was...pretty much shows City's lack of logic in spending.

It also shows they are after marquis signings. Glamour acquisitions reminiscent of the galaticos at real madrid. Only they haven't got a pedigree to attract that kind of player so they offer to double their wages. What does that achieve - it attracts mercenaries. Its one thing having a plan to be the biggest club in the world. Its another coming up with an effective strategy across the board to achieve it. At the moment they are scatter gun with tactics, with backroom staff, with acquisitions, scouting and recruitment. There is no stability, no looking at the big picture. /they are buying so many good players and then just waiting to see which ones stick.

What they should be doing, should be part of an overall long term strategy. They should be selective in their decision making. They should still have a small enough squad to allow youth team players opportunities. Also they should continue to invest in what has always been a very good youth set up.

The opposite of this seems to be happening. Chances are if things don't go swimmingly for them in the first half Mancini will lose his job, and then they'll go back a few steps again. They aren't really football people, just fans with astronomical wealth and a business plan that will never work out.
And the nucleus of a team isn't even there yet. Arguably their best player was Bellamy last season; and he's on his way out.

Expect City to thrash the top four this season and then lose and draw to a load of crap teams.

Do you know something I don't or just take the tabloids as gospel?

Just because you outspend everyone doesn't make you a team. It wasn't long ago Newcastle were paying extortionate transfer fees and wages for mediocre players just like you and look where it got them. The championship.
