If only we'd signed Tierney a year ago before he properly made his name at Celtic

He'll go to a better club than us now when he decides to finally leave

Would have been a natural Baines replacement

As for Leighton, I'll always have a fondness for him, but he hasn't looked good recently

Hopefully it's just a dip in form, I mean he was excellent against City for instance

Mikey they played most of that game with 10 men, as soon as they brought Sterling on they put him on the right wing and he scored straight away.

I'm so glad we signed that promising young lad all those years ago when we realised we'd need a replacement for Baines because he'd start to get old in the future

Oh wait.

Of course we need a b/up to Bainsey, but to say he is finished is crazy. The lad is being hung out to dry in this team. Opposition managers realize he is one of the best attacking defenders so they man mark him almost. Everton defend so deep presently he is recieving the ball on the edge of his box with no midfield player anywhere near him showing for the ball. He needs 2 players in front of him that want the ball and go forward with it and everton would be a different outfit. This team have no attacking intent and this is stifling bainsey, this comes from the managers negative approach.

Was one of the best attacking defenders not now, he's not even looking to move the ball forward just playing the easy back pass, I hope it's a blip in form and the issues with the way we are playing/personnel but am not so sure anymore.

I love Baines, absolutely boss player, but we dont need back up for him. Baines needs to become the back up left back.

He looks knackered. Playing every second game would get the most out of him. We had 4 different left backs a few seasons ago!

No mate. He's nearly 33 and isn't the player he used to be, it's that simple.

Not getting any younger agreed, but my view is he is being targeted by the oppo and has nothing in front of him except a 40yd pass to someone who is tightly marked. He is also picking up the ball on the edge of our box, when he used to get it in space on the half way line when piennar played.

Mate, I didn't want to agree with @davek when he told me Baines was finished last year but looking at him recently I don't see how you could argue against it.

He's got no legs left. In the 3-5-2 where we should be seeing his attacking qualities we aren't seeing him at all, he's playing deeper himself because he knows he can't catch up.
