Wouldn't say it's at that stage just yet with Baines, although you are spot on there. He's not like Jagielka bad at the moment, deffo worth keeping around as back up for another season, but we absolutely must be buying a replacement.
It's actually painful seeing players I've loved declining so rapidly in front of our eyes. It's not fair on then and they don't deserve the stick that inevitably comes their way.
Since his injury a couple of seasons ago I don't think he's been at his best. Maybe he never fully recovered but I think now time and age is catching up on him and 3 games a week is to much. He needs a left hand sided player in front of him when he plays and the young lad Vlasic may be the one.

Last year he had one of his better years defensively. This year he has struggled on both sides of the ball. Part of the problem is Koeman's system obviously, but he doesn't have the confidence to get forward anymore. I don't think we will see him consistently playing well again.

I don't buy it when people say he's the least of our problems. He's right up there with the best of them for me.
For years our play has been based around marauding full backs (especially at home), now we've got Baines who can't do anything apart from play it safe. If you're an opposition winger I think you'd be made up to against him right now.

Sad to see the decline in his game. Criminal really that's there's no back up or competition for his spot.
