Leroy Fer

I know it means nothing really but FC Twente are reporting that Fer is not at training this morning. And that his agent is still in Liverpool negotiating.

I find it a bit amusing that everyone believes this latest story is set in stone, they're claiming we're haggling over the price while they are doing the same. Fact of the matter is, they got him for half of that from Feyenoord because they were in a tight spot, now 1,5 years later they feel they should be entitled to 8-10 mil when he has still only played in the Eredivisie which is a sub-par league.

Frankly, I'd think for the money involved there could well be more established players available worthy of the risk.

I'd say if there's a chance of injury relapse then the board is in every right, Lescott was about 4 mil and worth a punt, Demba Ba was crazy wages and agent fees and probably a release clause and Mirallas was 5,5 but has looked the part. Double the fee and none of them would be interesting risks to me.

Think what 8,3 million could mean (with previous transfers in hindsight) for this team, and then what it would mean throwing that money away on a player who is a.) not really proven outside of the Dutch league and b.) risk of reoccuring injuries.

Don't make this into a pipe dream. I'd be made up if he joins and proves himself a beast, but until he's here there's no point in us throwing all our eggs in one basket.

Moyes has been all over him since last summer.

That means what like?

Loads on here claiming hes a good player and fuming over a lad theve never seen play once

Just because Moyes has had his scouting team on him does not mean his going to be a good player

Makes sense that as long as there is a possibility of the deal going through he is kept away from the squad to keep them focused.

By Scouting team you mean the game football manager.

This on SSN? how do you know hes not there?

He will still be in Liverpool probably, I highly doubt they flew him back to holland straight away. Waste of time.
He will stay untill tonight, DM has said theres a deadline (before K.O tonight)

Onze ver****gever Sarah de Geest is bij het trainingscentrum van FC Twente. Fer ontbreekt op de training van...taken from FC Twente website, it loosely says the reporter there says he has not turned up for training.

Moyes never came out with commens re vegard forren, He has with Fer. If he's come out and said he thinks he's a real good talent and prospect, I believe him, Also with nearly every person who has seen him regular they all say the same thing 'great player, everton getting a bargain, future of dutch international football' all those comments must mean he is a good player.

Surely the player will still be in Liverpool in the hope the fee is agreed tonight?

Im not in the know but I would have thought that personal terms have already been agreed and its a case of which club backs down first. He has fluid on the knee, Everton expected that to have subsided after his surgery two months ago and FC Twente say it is normal for it to last 12 months before it subsides. A difference of opinion between two doctors I guess.

Even though we seem to have put the brakes on this deal for a laugh we'll still sign this guy before we play West Brom, Kenwright won't risk not having the opportunity to parade him round during the game and he certainly doesn't want to annoy Moyes and the fans by seemingly making a pig's ear of this.
