Leroy Fer

From Twente's perspective, they don't need to sell him now for the money, but if they do they need to get another player or two in (they want Djuricic from Heerenveen and maybe Claudemir from Copenhagen). Why would they agree to a fee based on appearances? They're not up against it and are doing fine with their squad currently as it is. I also heard from a Dutch friend of mine that Munsterman is a [Poor language removed] of a negotiator.

Maybe the deal will fall through in which case I hope we have someone else lined up, but it will probably still go through, with us adhering to the terms of the original agreement.

That's the problem.

And what like? Babel had BAGS of potential He could have easily been a great player, He just didn't have the mental aptitude to do it, I believe from what i've read about Fer that he would have, And i think yes it may be a risk but he could easily be worth double what we pay for him if he proves himself on the pitch for us.

If's whats and maybe's

We all know deep down that not signing him if he has dodgy knees is the right thing, what everyone is annoyed about is it is a transfer farce yet again and the fact that money we found for this deal will mysteriously vanish meaning we can't sign anyone else. You get the feeling it is Fer or nobody that is why people are worried.

Lads this one initially came out of nowhere. No one had said anything about a Fer bid being on the cards and the first we knew was when it was reported that a 'deal' had been agreed. Since then we have heard only bits and pieces.

Personally, I think the deal will happen.

Maybe it shouldn't have been reported, however it's all part of the negoatiation/haggling process that most of us haven't got a clue about. (no disrespect to those who do)

Also, one way or the other, I feel the club will keep it quiet until it has been resolved.

Nobody knows that the money will not be made avalible to sign somebody else

The only good thing to come out of this mess is the board wouldn't dare not bring someone in now. it would cause outrage with the supporters. Would they?

History of Bill in transfer windows means we will probably not get anyone else. You know deep down that is the case, be a mad scramble to get a deal done late and fail like Ofoe in August.

If hes told Moyes he has the money to sign Fer why would he not have the money to sign another player

Ok lets say the Fer deal falls through becasue we dont want to risk a large sum on a player with a knee problem and Moyes doesnt see another target woth going for in this window, How is that the boards fault

For months there's been time to prepare targets to pursue in this January window. We're here (again) at the death trying to cobble together deals allowing no time whatsoever for failed medicals/terms unagreed etc to move to targets B, C, D....

Obviously if this one goes west but the club sign a couple of decent players by tomorrow night, then it all ends well. I have zero faith that will happen though. Regardless of your position on Fer and his injury risk, that'd be unforgivable.
