Got to work on his finishing if he's to become a first team player here. Had quite a few good chances in the last couple of games, including 2 clear ones on Saturday, and hasn't really threatened to score. He didn't look comfortable taking on the shots, although in fairness I think both at Stoke were on his left.

I like him

Still rough around the edges, but he has potential I think

Sadly our record with younger players in recent years hasn't been great

I hope we don't fail him as a club, and I hope the supporters give him a fair shake of the stick, although history shows that neither is likely sadly

Who's gone on to make a name of themselves when they've been a younger player for us in recent years?

You think he's going to be a Premier League striker? He has a lot of Marcus Bent about him, if he ends up that good it'll be a bonus for us.

….he’s always just looked like a footballer to me but I have no idea if he can make the step up. I doubt he’s a central striker but his best position was a discussion we had on the Youth team thread 18 months ago.

The Manager and coaches will have a view and if that means he goes on loan then I doubt he ever has a future at Everton. If he stays it means Dyche wants access to him and he has a chance to prove he’s good enough.

He does look a wide forward, seems to be a position a lot of smaller forwards get pigeon holed into these days, I don't think he will make it and I would rather us sign more proven strikers (hurry up Kev ffs) but I would also like to see if he's got what it takes and be proven wrong, because that would be a win for Everton.

The media reports are that the club are still considering whether he goes on loan or not.

My main issue is that we are desperately in need of goals and he does not look comfortable in front of goal. He does a lot of good stuff as well, so it's a bit frustrating. But if you want to play in a front 3, you need to be able to score and create.

…no, i don’t see him as the answer to our central striker issue. That massive void is still to be filled & is a separate discussion.

Dobbin has the potential to give us more potency. Very interesting if Dyche wants him around next season, it’ll be a good sign for the lad if he does.

It sounds like Dyche has been impressed. My reading of the situation is that how he plays over the next few weeks will determine whether he is part of the first team squad or goes out on loan. There is possibly an opportunity there for him.
