Liverpool council threaten legal action over Merseyside derby

Oh sure - you can hear them on Friday, Saturday, Monday - whatever floats ya boat eh? I'm sure they do go the game but just saying there are plenty of them in town pre-match.

Yep I work in town and if both of us are playing on the same day I will go to Woodys to catch our 2nd half. There will be about 20 of us and about 120 of them all kitted put like absolute tits. If they are early kick off I can open my office window and hear by there cheers or jeers how they are getting on. They invade the city for a couple of hours the bad scruffs.

lollollollol

I honest to god thought was an urban myth, made up by us lot naturally! So it really happens, like, to sample the Liverpool match day experience in a Liverpool pub??

lollol

No it is an actual thing, you see them all walking round with their new tops and bags full of rubbish from their club shop.

lollol I just find that incredible. Honestly. It isnt natural. I can understand a lad on a visit to the UK/Liverpool doing it once, with a stadium tour and that. But they descend every home game! Mentalists.

Its not so much about lads being on the ale and causing bother, its more about the fact that police will be needed in town Saturday night as normal. But that being said, I have been at some barmy night games between Bristol City and Rovers, when the KO time seemed to have been selected to almost maximise trouble!

The "best" was an evening kick off, on the Friday night immediately before Christmas day, (the next Monday), when all the office workers in the centre finished at 12, all the factories the same around the ground, and there was basically a 6 hour pub crawl before the match. Was like Baghdad.

Wonder if @ste d' indica remembers?
Are you talking about the one in I think 2000 or maybe '01? If so yeah, absolute mayhem. We had a flat near Temple Meads, non stop blue lights.

Thats the one mate. Were about a dozen riot vans on Baldwin Street by 3.00pm! Was a great atmosphere in Ashton Gate, to say the least! Then Rovers scored after about 30 seconds, but City scored dead late to win 3 2. Was nuts.

We stayed in the centre till 4 ish, then just pub crawled down Hotwells Road to the ground.

Good times.

Joe Anderson tweeted there's no action being taken

I believe everything Joe says!!!

Thing is if the council are trying to say this what are they going to do when the tinmines capacity goes up in a few years time? Ban Saturday games after 3 oclock because of the extra people coming into the city? It's a nonsense, i wonder if its more coming from the Red Echo.

Very different to playing midweek and playing at 5.30 on a saturday! There will be many more people smashed from being in the alehouse all day than if was midweek and there will be more disorder at this if at 5.30 on the sat.
Exactly. It isn't merely the time of the game, but the combination of the day and other scenarios all combined into one.

The time means it is perfect for people to be out all day on the ale before the game, watch the game, with time to spare for more ale afterwards.

This means lots of drunken fans from both sides based on a match which could provide some level of animosity. They may then spill into town.

Add to this policing of the normal city centre duties etc, it just means a lot of pressure.

I love Goodison in an evening game; the atmosphere can be fantastic. Yet, overall the safe thing to do is move the game.

Minute it was announced, planned to be on county road for 2pm to watch soccer Saturday and have a few pints :-)........was brilliant last season v City at home when we had qualified for Europe b4 ko

can someone start a petition online to sue liverpool city council if the derby kck off time is moved to an earlier time as it is a slur on the behaviour of everton fans
