Liverpool council threaten legal action over Merseyside derby

Heard a whisper that the council/police are kicking up a fuss over this to make a political point over budget cuts, and how an evening kick off will somehow stretch budgets. Whole thing is a stunt because it'll be 3 months before the General Election & both the Labour-run LCC & Merseyside Police have ulterior motives for making this an issue.

When you say heard a whisper mate, do you mean somebody on Twitter said it ?

Kopite paper in shock pro-change vote.

Given how the vast majority of those attending the match don't want it to change and the larger number of RS fans available to vote I wonder what motive they could possibly have to want it to change (it's not exactly a common phenomenon for people to vote for change when they are not emotionally involved - most people just don't bother to register their protest "vote" in nearly all instances)

If they move this game I'll be furious and I think fans should actually protest. Historically there hasn't actually been any trouble between Everton v Liverpool what time the game kicks off. The only trouble that happens when Liverpool fans buy tickets in our end and act like idiots. I'm deeply annoyed with this stupidity our fans behave impeccably at home and away yet these scumbags want the kick off to be moved so they don't have to do their jobs. We're football fans not criminals, what world do these morons live in. Everton fans work together, go to school together, go to church together, drink together and live together, We don't fight on those occasions why would this change because of what time the game kicks off. These people should go and catch some real criminals and stop wasting time on a non issue, there's never been any major issues between our fans are never will be.

The only trouble i can recall was from none match going lids outside Anfield picking off some Everton fans about 2 years ago outside the King Harry, there is no chance they would show up at Goodison so the chances of trouble is zilch.

This, I've been out many a time at 9am for a 12.30 derby and the pubs are fairly full then. Nothing worse than going into a derby game sober as there's been to much redshite jamminess/cheating refs/poor performances over the years.
Witness the Cup semi. Dead.

Don't know why my original post was deleted. Presumably for pointing out that it wasn't the best of timing by the Council to basically be calling its own citizens drunken, aggressive knobheads at a time when down the road in Warrington the Police defence is still trying to say exactly that during the Hillsboro Inquest.

Swearing I presume

The biggest public contradiction so far that we can nail them on in terms of bias is this in Wednesday's Telegraph:

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...-clash-at-Everton-prompts-disorder-fears.html

"Merseyside Police do not support this fixture being played at 1730 on Saturday February 7 2015 and reiterate our position that this fixture should have a kick-off time of no later than 1.30pm on a weekend," said the police in a report to a special meeting of the ground safety advisory committee.

Exhibit A:
Liverpool vs Everton - Sunday 16 January 2011 - kick off time: 2:05pm on Sky.

Exhibit B:
Liverpool vs Everton - Sunday 25 January 2009 - kick off time: 4pm on ITV.

So the police report to the 'ground safety advisory committee' was factually incorrect in terms of when its 'position' is adhered to, or at the very least, being very selective in the historical timeframe it is using.

If the argument is that they are using the 'most up to date historical evidence' then that is flawed too, as the most up to date evidence from the last Derby 3 months ago had Merseyside police praising both sets of fans for their 'impeccable behaviour':

The problem is that it's Saturday, not so much the time mate. They were Sunday and were other night kick offs at both grounds on weekdays but never on a Saturday.

My auld fella is a retired bizzie and he says there's nothing suspicious or nefarious, it's just Merseyside Police will massively struggle to police the Derby properly as well as town on a Saturday night (which is an even bigger job than a normal Saturday night because it's a post-Derby night so policing would/will require more resources).

I think people have already pointed this out so sorry if I'm being repetitive.
