Liverpool council threaten legal action over Merseyside derby

I have serious concerns over trouble in this Derby game. The only true way to tackle this fear is to reduce the RS ticket allocation to a more easily managed number.

The slot is hard as concrete now. Can't be switched to Sunday as Liverpool will appeal having to play two days later too. It's done and everybody in authority has to deal with it. Be prepared as the police will be strict on fans and there will be a lot of policing around the pubs, they will make it worse that it will be

Unfortunately, it is not merely those in attendance who are a concern. In fact, those who do not attend are much harder to monitor and contain.

People who haven't gone the game will still have had the opportunity to enjoy afternoon ale in close proximity to the ground, or even in town.

If something occurs in the game to cause a reaction such as a ad result or a contentious decision, these people may decide to take action.

Mix that in with those who have attended, and you have the potential for trouble.

I hope there isn't, but we need to be cautious... especially how some of their fans acted last year with ambushing and attacking away fan buses etc.

I know the fixture is in February, but both teams seem off canter as well. Our performances have been poor. This can stir up extra frustration!

If the game is moved to a earlier kick off, can one of the mods organise a massive piss up in a local park at 9am and ensure we are all on our best behaviour. We then walk to the ground in silence, ensuring we behave like true gentlemen, (police looking at us with the confusion of a bisexual standing infront of a naked Jessica Alba and a naked george clooney), we then enter the stadium and sing for the blues giving everything we have got to support the team. Afterwards (when we win) we will then celebrate in a dignified manner just to p*ss off the reds and also show the police we are not animals.

I may even ask one of the lads from the 'worst girl you have slept with' thread for a number of a local skank.

Here you go mate, pyar skank

I don't think so but I wouldn't rule it out altogether.

Presumably Sky announced the rest of their weekend picks at the same time as that game so it can't be fitted into one of their other slots on that weekend.

And if it was moved to a midweek 8 p.m. game it hardly seems worth the bother for Plod as the problems they are inventing for this game would not be much decreased.

No.....my guess is that this will go ahead as planned.......but the stink being created over this fixture will endure we will never again see a Saturday afternoon derby, neither at 3 p.m. or at 5.30.

Which is probably the thinking behind it. They know this won't be changed now but nor will Sky pick it again in this slot.

In future derbies will be played at Saturday lunchtime or on a Sunday :(
That makes a lot of sense. If it goes ahead and it's the last one I'm glad I'm going.

Here's another thought.

Suppose we meet the RS in the F.A. Cup Final?

That is now a permanent 5.30ish kick off down in that London.

Will the Met follow the lead of the local Biz and try and have the kick off fetched forward?

Who the heck could blame them if they did?

Multiply problem by 10 if - even allowing for the improbable - both teams got to Warsaw (NB I'm sure two hot balls in the draw will sort that out for UEFA to make us meet in the QF or SF). You could just imagine a scenario at UEFA where Everton, Liverpool and (say) two Spanish teams were in the semis and the representatives of one of the Spanish teams wanted to make sure everything was in order to avoid a biased draw with 2 conveniently drawn semis happening.

Nah we won't get that far.

When they do the draw for the first knock out round of 32 they'll fix it so we get a hard draw and get knocked out while the rs get a really easy draw.
