Liverpool council threaten legal action over Merseyside derby

What does this say about the contempt with which both the Biz and the council hold the citizens of Liverpool in?

You would think we were savages apt to get tanked up on the fire water and beat seven bells out of each other.

No wonder the rest of the country has such a negative view of us when our own police force and civic leaders appear willing to go to such lengths to stop our teams playing a blooming football match late on a Saturday afternoon.

The clubs should tell them to do one.

And the fans should tell Plod and the Council that they work for us and are financed by us.

Here's another thought.

Suppose we meet the RS in the F.A. Cup Final?

That is now a permanent 5.30ish kick off down in that London.

Will the Met follow the lead of the local Biz and try and have the kick off fetched forward?

Who the heck could blame them if they did?

Could this really get moved, like to another completely different date? I hope not because I will be going to this from overseas.

I don't think so but I wouldn't rule it out altogether.

Presumably Sky announced the rest of their weekend picks at the same time as that game so it can't be fitted into one of their other slots on that weekend.

And if it was moved to a midweek 8 p.m. game it hardly seems worth the bother for Plod as the problems they are inventing for this game would not be much decreased.

No.....my guess is that this will go ahead as planned.......but the stink being created over this fixture will endure we will never again see a Saturday afternoon derby, neither at 3 p.m. or at 5.30.

Which is probably the thinking behind it. They know this won't be changed now but nor will Sky pick it again in this slot.

In future derbies will be played at Saturday lunchtime or on a Sunday :(

Not its true, i had a friend come to Liverpool a while back ask me why every hotel in the city he could afford was full, simple answer was Liverpool are at home!

This?
mmm???
Was looking for the Mrs for 2 weeks starting 6th Jan full, full, full, full. but Everton have 3 games at home.
Strange
maybe there's a shortage of cheap /decent hotels around S. L'pool / Airport

This GSAG mob reduced our allocation away at Arsenal in the FA Cup last year for "safety reasons" hence I hold out no hope what so ever of common sense prevailing.....

One things for sure: Everton's owners will do whatever it takes in terms of bending over backwards to their sugar daddy SKY to accommodate them. There'll be no hard petitioning by the club on KO times. It's a sell out fixture and the cash from SKY will be taken. Job done.

This.

If they move this game I'll be furious and I think fans should actually protest. Historically there hasn't actually been any trouble between Everton v Liverpool what time the game kicks off. The only trouble that happens when Liverpool fans buy tickets in our end and act like idiots. I'm deeply annoyed with this stupidity our fans behave impeccably at home and away yet these scumbags want the kick off to be moved so they don't have to do their jobs. We're football fans not criminals, what world do these morons live in. Everton fans work together, go to school together, go to church together, drink together and live together, We don't fight on those occasions why would this change because of what time the game kicks off. These people should go and catch some real criminals and stop wasting time on a non issue, there's never been any major issues between our fans are never will be.

They cant mate, the Police are all at the footy.

They really do make out these days that our Derby carries the same risk factor as Glasgow, Cairo, Buenos Aires etc

Then we see after every weekend games that aren't derbies and in many cases have small crowds, that have way more trouble than has ever happened on derby day.
The way it's going suggests that we aren't that far away from 'away bans.'

As for if we met in the Cup Final, it aint that long ago that we were forced to play a Wembley Lunchtime k.o. with fans not only forced to travel separately but also to travel on different motorways.

If the game is moved to a earlier kick off, can one of the mods organise a massive piss up in a local park at 9am and ensure we are all on our best behaviour. We then walk to the ground in silence, ensuring we behave like true gentlemen, (police looking at us with the confusion of a bisexual standing infront of a naked Jessica Alba and a naked george clooney), we then enter the stadium and sing for the blues giving everything we have got to support the team. Afterwards (when we win) we will then celebrate in a dignified manner just to p*ss off the reds and also show the police we are not animals.

I may even ask one of the lads from the 'worst girl you have slept with' thread for a number of a local skank.

The problem is that it's Saturday, not so much the time mate. They were Sunday and were other night kick offs at both grounds on weekdays but never on a Saturday.

My auld fella is a retired bizzie and he says there's nothing suspicious or nefarious, it's just Merseyside Police will massively struggle to police the Derby properly as well as town on a Saturday night (which is an even bigger job than a normal Saturday night because it's a post-Derby night so policing would/will require more resources).

I think people have already pointed this out so sorry if I'm being repetitive.

Maybe you are a right about the day being the real reason, but that is not what they are saying publicly. Publicly they are hiding behind the kick off time excuse (flawed) and the phrase 'weekend'. There are 2 days to a weekend, and in 2014/2015, Sundays are just as busy as Saturdays in the city centre.
