We got badly had off, sort it Bobby we can never see such a shambles again. Twice I can remember games like that a 7-0 and a 1-6 defeats against good Arsenal teams this was against a crap Liverpool team. Embarrassing and Totally unacceptable.

They are definitely not crap mate...pretty good actually

Rubbish that wasn't it?

Horrible experience all in all

Didn't even think they were that good. We were awful though and deserved to lose

Bobby needs to give all the players an almighty kick up the backside, with the exception of maybe John Stones, who I thought played very well

Might just be me being dead angry, but I thought he was hopeless last night. Caught out of position on numerous occasions and awful communication in general throughout the entire defence. It was like they were a bunch of strangers, when in reality three of the five have played regularly together for the past six years.

Woeful.

What an awful day to have an off day.

But that's all it was. We just lost our heads for a spell in defence and were punished wickedly.

I think there's some harsh criticism being dished out to midfield and attack, but I thought we did pretty well on the whole in those areas. Had we been able to cope with the counter attacks, we'd probably have won that.

Defence, including Howard, was a total shambles.

We're going to Auckland for a week next month with my wife's brother and his wife. Looking forward to it ,but he's a Red gloryhunter. In fairness to him his dad was a Scouse Red - (musta been dragged up) - anyway, I don't think I'll see him until we get to the airport, so I hope the heats gone out of it by then.

Btw, I was looking for things worth doing in Auckland from you Kiwi Blues but only got one response. We're staying at the Park Regis at the top end of town.

You definitely want to do Waiheke Island...wineries, beaches etc.
Best beach in town (to my thinking) is Thornes Bay on North Shore
Of course the Sky Tower is worth a trip to the top
Damn good museum, also MOTAT museum and the zoo.
Kelly Tarltons underwater world is a pretty good couple of hours
Viaduct is a very good general hang out, bars restaurants
Go fishing on the harbour...good fish just offshore
Showgirls...haven't been in a while but had high quality strippers last I looked

I have to admit that for me the result was not a surprise, it could have been worse than 4-0. Liverpool are in form at the moment, we are not. The seeds for this demolition were set in the WBA game which really we should have won but that exposed our attacking deficiencies. No surprise then when Lukaku went off, that essentially was the end of our attacking options particularly in the absence of Coleman and Ovieido. Add to that in terms of performance some of players had not really turned up.

A horrible loss and pinpoints our need for strikers. People will probably look to Traore, I do not. The reason we have him is cost if we wanted a beanpole why not go for Carroll or Crouch but of course they would have cost I still think if Traore plays we will resort to hoofball to his head our passing game which has been a hallmark of Roberto's management will go down.

Our injuries have been a severe penalty to our team but that does not excuse poor play.

Put it behind us, regroup and get out back to winning ways. Note Man U are catching us and like it or not despite their terrible start they are now getting the results.

Eh? What makes you think Bobby will change to hoofball??? Not gonna happen. The guys strength, apparently is his link play n the ground and is very good with his back to the goal. Which, if true, could see an improvement on Lukaku in some ways.

Obviously whether or not he can put the ball in the net frequently is a bit more important.

I do know what you mean on this. His post match comments were also spot on. No excuses or bull **** just an admission they let the fans down and weren't good enough.

Roberto won't panic. Nothing is decided in January in the league. 4 points is nothing. We must now give villa a good seeing too and it's vital the fans get behind the lads on Saturday.

Tactically he was out thought tonight but he will learn and move on. We must learn quickly as well as Villa will lay a similar style trying to hit on the break.

you're right. We were dead lucky to keep a clean scoresheet against them that first game. They will be very confident after watching the derby performance.

Fair play to Brenda tonight, game plan was perfic....the ugly tool.

Brenda realised that our defence was either slow or inexperienced...so had Suarez and Sturridge running at them with pace.We kept the ball well enough, but as soon as we lost it, we had problems because they broke so quickly. Funnily enough, what we needed was a old fashioined sweeper, even Heitinger in there somewhere at the back. Only three of their players were better than ours, the front three.Martinez will address this and one defeat doesn't put us out of the CL race. Lukaku should be used like West Brom used him, largely from the bench. Striker situation needs to be sorted, but again Martinez will be aware of this. It wasn't wrong to get rid of Jelavic, he's still missing sitters for Hull ! I was disppointed that Naismith didn't do better, I thought it was an ideal situation for him. Peinnar and Barkley were not fit, and should not have been risked, but I don't think Martinez could see viable alternatives. A fit Traore would have got about 70 mins! and Coleman was a big miss. Knee jerkers please take all this into account before jerking those knees..we are a work in progress, not the finished article by a long way.

Now i have slept on it, my thoughts from the game last night;

1. It was the end result of selling our players and not replacing them this season. We have made 13 million in transfers for our strikers and paid nothing out (assuming Kone was signing anyway), compare that to a 43 million strike force and there's where the goals come from. We went out with the only team we could play and even then it wasn't fit completely, we knew we were down to the bones of our arse but not to that extent. We need players bringing in as back up NOW and not the summer.

2. Stones had a terrible game. You know what i predicted this on another post yesterday, he was aweak link. Liverpool directed attacks down our right knowing full well Stones would not be up for the task. An oversight on our managers part but with hibbert there they would not have had so much freedom. I'm not ****ging stones off for the record, he is 20 and very inexperienced so it is a tad predictable but you want him to come back stronger for that now which will aid his development.

3. Lukaku's injury was inevieteble. Ok it was a freak accident but i knew he was going to pick an injury up. We have been playing for one striker for weeks now and our luck could only stretch so far. Naismith is a poor striker, not his position at all. As soon as he came on it was game over, i mean watch the second half, we are passing it about and naismith is stood in the triangle of kopite defenders! we had noone to aim for so we understandably posed no threat up front. Now we pose the the problem of whether to play poor naismith upfront or put traore in risking his hamstring. God only knows eh?

4. We ignored liverpools tactics. Now it is hard to critise the manager too much for this, he clearly had us turn up to play oour game rather than play to theirs, however clearly that did not compensate for their front 4 players. A fully fit first choice defence may have made a sizable difference but If's and Buts' on that thought.

5. What will be our reaction to this? If the club goes out and signs players who can come in and cover the team by friday, we go out and start winning games and really pick up momentum on the back of an embarissing defeat then last night was worth it. If that was our worst, let's see our best now and 15 games to go, lets aim to win at least 10 of them and finish the season as high as we can. I believe right this minute 4th is too far away from us in terms of squad size and important players missing but 10 wins and 3 draws will run us pretty close. So lets start this weekend and really show the country who everton really are.

I think blaming it in an "off day" is cheap, we lost because of terrible tactics. Playing such a high line with no pace in defence is what cost us. This ones on Roberto.

I actually agree on some points mate but the above sentences do my head in.

All this 'like I said' stuff is laughable.

You knew Lukaku would get injured? No you didn't.

We were crap. There's no other argument for it. Everton played like idiots.
